I run a 42 myself for cross, but that spesh specs a 42 on their SWORKS gravel bike tells you all you need to know about where their head is at and who theyre really marketing to (not elite gravel racers).

By my back of the napking calculations using the Force Wide Crankset and Force Wide Front Derailleur the weight is ~ 150-180 grams more than the SRAM Red equivalents. That means you essentially lose the benefit of the lighter frame over some of the other gravel options.
The Cervelo Aspero 5 weighs 990 grams.
The Scott Addict Gravel Weighs 930 grams.
The OPEN U.P.P.E.R. weighs 880 grams.

The saddle being the same height as the handlebar really looks awful.
Is that a 46/33 or a 43/30?

Freddy Ovett Said he didn't know if he had a red or force crank or standard or wide spindle on IG .
My frame is due to arrive on Nov1, so still centuries until I can say more.

Nit picky but the gumwall tires w/ the grey bar tape...
Does the sram wide stuff increase the Qfactor? Some would argue a wider stance costs a couple watts.

Q-Factor is increased by 5mm for more tire clearance.
I would be fairly surprised if a wider stance of 5mm in total would be "watts" (plural) at "gravel speeds".
Even beasts like Ian Boswell or Laurens ten Dam don't average beyond 20mph in a race, so the potential for savings isn't huge...

The mechanic that built the bike confirmed that it's a standard width crank. He didn't think you'd get much bigger than the 46T Freddie was using.FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 9:11 pmFreddy Ovett Said he didn't know if he had a red or force crank or standard or wide spindle on IG .

I'd be keen to know if the wide crankset, fitted with red 50/37 and a wide front mech would work.
If so then it's the perfect n+0

Anyone know where to source the front derailer mount.
Specialized not offering this bike with GRX Di2 from the factory is confusing. I'm pretty sure 2x customers constitute more than just an insigifnicant portion of the gravel bike demographic? Do they REALLY think most of their customers are speccing and building their bikes?
Is it impossible to imagine that a buyer of an $12k USD extremely lightweight and nimble road bike might not want to be stuck with gearing that prevents them from making this bike a savage offroad AND on the road? Honestly, I keep going back to the Aethos, why not put some 32's on there and still get the use of a proper 2x drivetrain? I'm sure the Crux can take more abuse, but if I don't think I'd want to take the Crux into battle on really rowdy gravel anyway, seems the Diverge or any other countless # of bikes would be better for that.
I'd love to know how I am wrong, and I am sure I might be, but that is at least my viewpoint as someone who is waffling on which new, fast, light mixed-surface bike to buy and has the money to pull the trigger now.

Agree 100%. Guessing the product manager is a young millenial living on the west coast and happens to be a sram fanboy idk. Somehow on the Gantt chart or whatever, a couple extra millimeters of tire clearance took precedence over drivetrain usability/versatility (and/or a few grams/$ over just a dropped stinking chainstay).
