Hey, I've been creeping around here for a while. I got my 2020 TCR Advanced SL last year and since then I have been obsessed with shedding weight and riding faster. It's very hilly where I live so every gram counts but i also like to go fast so aero is also important.
A quick rundown of how the bike is currently equipped.
Sram Red Etap w/power meter
Giant Contact SLR integrated handlebar 120x420
Look Keo Blade
Certified slammed headset bearing cover
Supacaz rainbow reflective bar tape (heavy)
Generic 3k carbon computer mount (also heavy)
Cadex Boost saddle
Cinelli "harrys" carbon cages (heavy but look great)
Team Dream bottles
Various Ti bolts
Hunt 65mm wheelset w/Schwalbe Pro One TT TLR 28mm (+sram red 10-33 cassette)
Cadex42 wheelset w/ Veloflex Corsa Evo TLR 28mm (not equipped)
Sram red cassette 10-28 (not equipped)
I have a bunch of parts on order, i think i can save an additional 300+g while still running 65mm wheels.
The bike is 16.24lb (7.39kg) with the Hunt 65s but I think I can do sub 7 easily.
I know there's a few easy grams to be had but I'm willing to make the sacrifice out of vanity....for now
A more thorough breakdown of my bike and her prospective weight loss.
This is a link to a live sheet, does anyone know if theres a way to embed a google sheet?

excuse the *f##k* up vinyl, Im going to do it all over again this winter.

My engineer making sure those carbon spokes are true.
Day 0
When i decided to buy a new bike i really wanted a Bianchi and i really didnt want another black bike but i got a deal on this bike i couldnt refuse. so coming from an automotive mechanical background and having a side vinyl business i took it upon myself to add some color. I was inspired by the pink inner stays on my girlfriends sirrus.
Then i came to my sences and went back to black. Looking back, im proud of the execution but not the final product. I hand laid pin striping on the wheels and made stencils out of painters tape for the stays and fork. Some of it was freehand and it actually came out pretty clean but reflecting on that look makes a cringe a bit.
knifeless tape FTW
Covered up that gross 90s style TCR logo on the top tube with some rainbow metallic matte white vinyl. i HATE the white TCR decal on the top. Its the same decal thats been on the TCR for at least the past 10+ years. That whole era of design is partly why i belive Giants were never as popular as other bike brands.
Im going to always have some kind of vinyl on the top tube, It appears to be under the matte clear coat so it here to stay until i paint the whole bike. Almost makes me want to sell it for a 21.
Integrated everythingggg..
Hard to belive that it was only a few months ago when the leaves were still changing, i could still ride in a jersey and my vinyl stripe and bar tapes still looked mint.
Almost looks factory...
More Klein...love this thing.

Thanks and Congrats on the new bike! I love that color.
Where I live (Long Island, NY) is hilly but there's also lots of flat and rolling roads aswell. I'm also a bit of a speed demon so I love descending and high speed riding. So the bike has two primary purposes. It's got be aero and fast, aswell as be light for climbing (and offset the extra weight from deep wheels). Gotta climb to descend
I think I can achieve sub 7kg with the cadex42 wheels.

Some of my more recent upgrades.
I'm really pleased w the lock rings. I hated that silver ring on my black rotor housing. I would have been content with plain black but these things are beautiful aswell!
Shimano lock rings- 16.8 each
AbsoluteBlack Ti lock rings- 5.8g each
Also saved a few more grams slamming my stem with Flat mount headset bearing cover from Certified Slammed.
Original 8mm spacer (cf)- 6.5g
Certified Slammed flat spacer(al)- 1.8g
I've got a bunch more marginal gains coming, stay posted.

I have tried basically all the main fast rolling tires. My previous bike had GP5000s, my TCR came with Cadex 25 race, then Vittoria Corsa Speed (slashed), Vittoria Corsa G 2.0, Veloflex Corsa EVO TLR, i only have about 80 miles on the Schwalbes and my Klein Quantum has the Pirelli Pzero.
I think my favorites were the veloflex, they arent the fastest rolling of the lot but they are the most supple/grippiest, and most confidence inspiring while high speed cornering. The ride quality improovment is instantly noticable, they make even the most aggressive of bikes ride like a caddilac.
For their durability....i have not had any punctures at all and theyve been on my bike the longest with the most miles. Im 6'0 175lb and i run them about 80-85psi (rain or shine) and i have never had any traction issues. However, i did get a tear in the sidewall of my rear tire about 300 miles ago. It does not leak, the tear has gotten larger the more i ride (obviously) and there are threads showing. Since they have prooven to be quite puncture resistant i was contimplating replacing them with the Veloflex RACE TLR.
The Schwalbe Pro One TTs def feel quicker, i havent really had a chance to lean on them like i have with my Veloflex. Also i dont think itll be a fair comparison until i can compare the Veloflex race to the Pro one TT.

Thanks and i agree, Giants don't get the love they deserve. Granted i do believe the previous models paint schemes dated them before their time but they really are great bikes. I love my TCR, lightweight and aero.
I personally love the look of deep wheels but i also LOVE riding fast AF and descending. So it's a bit of a catch 22, i need to climb to descend so the bike need to be light AND aero.
I actually ordered the Cadex 65s a while ago but i got impatient and impulsively purchased these Hunt 65s. I do like the wheels, but I'm probably not going to keep them. When i decided to get deeper wheels i also wanted to go as wide as possible (w/out running bigger than 28s) to take advantage of the TCRs 32mm of clearance. Going for maximum width hooked beads are the enemy.
Cadex42
inner width-19.4mm
outer width-24mm
Veloflex Corsa Evo TLR 28mm- Mounted width 28.5
Hunt 65
Inner width-20mm
outer width-27mm
Schwalbe Pro One TT 28mm- Mounted width 28.4
Hookless v. Hooked
I know the difference in inner width is minimal but i was still hoping the Hunt wheels would spread them out a little wider than the Cadex wheels. So the hunts will most likely be up for sale when my cCadex65 finally arrive (anyone interested?). I was also toying with the idea of shaving the hooks off and making them hookless.
on top of the marginal aero advantage, hookless just looks so much better too imo.

Which posts specifically are you not seeing? i thought i fixed all the links. Im not sure how to set google photos to public.. ive been using labnol.org to convert to google sharable link to an embedable link. idk why this is so complicated for me. Theres got to be an easier way to do this.
bring me back to 2008 photobucket with the embeded link under the photos.
Does this work?
