It could be the other way round like when below 30-35 kph it feels like one gear slower? Means acceleration is not good but once up to speed it becomes normal.

I have stock SLR1s on my TCR Pro 0 and been wondering if I should upgrade and never been able to justify the cost. Are ENVE, Zipp or other expensive brands really worth it?

My LightBicycle AR56s are lighter, stiffer, wider, and more aero (56 mm deep vs 32mm) than my stock SLR1s. While they are only marginally more comfortable, the aero difference is surprising. Once you exceed 30-35 kph, it’s as if you have an extra gear. They were definitely worth the sub-1K $$. There’s no way I would spend $3K on Enves, etc., though.

Yup, the wheels you linked to are the ones I’m talking about. The video has different (but similar) wheels.

All set up and rolling 332g lighter than stock. Stock being PR2 wheels with tubes and PSL tires. Running Light Bicycle AR56 wheels with tubeless Conti 5000 25F, 28R tires. Also swapped to centerlock Ultegra rotors. Still messing around with pressure, but my ride yesterday at 70 psi front/75 rear was pretty incredible. Multiple PRs, smoothed out the seemingly endless chip seal, and no perceptible squirm or drag. I am not a featherweight either, weighing in at a Covid quarantine weight of 90kg. Never imagined running PSI this low on a road bike. Wheels just seem to settle in around 20 mph and hold their speed well. Certainly transformed my TCR into the bike I wanted it to be.

And FYI, mounting these tires on these wheels was a two man job and required the use of a Kool Stop tire jack. Not easy, but doable. Also of note, once stretched and settled, 25c front measured 28c and 28c rear measured 30c on these wheels. ~3mm of daylight between rear wheel and seatpost, pretty much maxed out for tire size.
