CeramicSpeed bearings are unnecessary and raise the cost of a potentially affordable wheelset. The carbon spoke replacement cost may be an issue and why isn’t there any wind tunnel data (even if it’s anecdotal)?

Are Hunt just using rebranded Chinese rims with Novatec hubs or do they specify their own profiles etc?

I'd rather spend that much money on a big name.

Exactly. Also keep the ceramic speed, perceived value.

Its difficult to know how much hunt do on rim profiles. They have there own aerodynamisit/wheel designer who worked at campagnolo before hunt. However that does not means they design the rims themselves. It could be a mix of input. Ceramic speed bearings though dont make sense however they are not aimed at us. Plenty of people will buy them because they are expensive therefore they must be good.

For all that effort, Roval CLX 32 are lighter without the need to go carbon spoke with their own aerodynamic data.

If you do a search you'll find hunt has a spotty reputation for weight claims and Hambini has shown they are very poor aerodynamically.

"...and Hambini has shown they are very poor aerodynamically."
That was for their older wheels that probably didn't see any engineering at all. Just an open mould most likely. I would not apply this as a blanket to whatever Hunt does now or in the future. Companies can change you know.
Their new 48 "limitless" wheel was actually their own R&D (hey, there are even pictures of engineers-looking-at-diagrams: https://road.cc/content/feature/236203- ... -hunt-pt-i) resulting in this whitepaper: https://www.huntbikewheels.com/48limitl ... hite_paper
Would be awsome to see some independent testing done on these, including some good old bashing by hambini :)

This 36 UD wheelset is a different beast however. Selling point seems to be carbon spokes and they don't make aero claims. Probably as aero as the model that hambini tested.
