Hunt limitless VS Roval CL 50

I've settled on these two 50mm options: the new very wide hunt limitless disc wheels and the roval CL 50 disc (the clx are just to expensive).

Now the thing is that even though I have very limited experience in racing what I've found out is that aero is NOT everything. It maybe for TT and thriatlon but for group racing the draft effect makes it a very different "world". In group racing (kind of classics racing) what I've found out is that the deciding moments usually happen during small but steep hills or even long climbs if it's a mountain stage. In these I've also found out that my 1900gr current wheels are just heavy as hell.

So, my question is, given this context, should I go for the 1515gr roval (350 DT hub) or the 1580gr hunt wheel (ceramicspeed bearings)?

In your consideration, did you look at either Light Bicycle or FSE rims with a set of Carbon-Ti hubs? They would be more competitive weight wise and the build would be laterally quite stiff. The lower weight and stiffness would help you react well to attacks.

It will have to be disc wheels and I would prefer complete build otherwise I would have to take it to a bike shop to assemble.

Nonetheless, from your comment I can deduce that you are somewhat saying "go for the lighter ones".

Having recently got the Rovals, They are brilliant.

I went for the them becasue A. they match my specialized bike and B they have DT hubs.

My only gripe is that the freehub is silent. Whereas the hunts will have a redicloulously loud freehub.

Saw the Hunts recently, they look amazing. Think I'm going to grab a set for my Mrs for Xmas.

+1 on Light Bicycle RR56C02 disc rims with Carbon Ti hubs. They will be 1400g, maybe sub 1400g. That´s worth the hassle with going to your LBS to complete them.

Have Hunt’s rim designs changed since Hambini’s aero test where their 50mm design only tested 3W better than a mavic kysrium?

+1 on Light Bicycle RR56C02 disc rims with Carbon Ti hubs. They will be 1400g, maybe sub 1400g. That´s worth the hassle with going to your LBS to complete them.

Why? They will happily build them for you with Carbon-Ti Hubs

In theory, hunt developed a new 50mm wheel which they called limitless. Compared to the ones hambini tested, these are 50% more expensive (in part due to the ceramicspeed stuff). I hope they are a better design that the one hambini tested.

Maybe the most important thing to note is that they are 35mm outer and 22.5mm inner width and Hunt says that they are aerodynamically optimised for 25-28c tyres.

No Rovals on that report either. If Hunt 50's are so bad, why they they been on the podium on the tour de Britain last year?
