7.8g DIY Wahoo stem mount for Kalloy Uno 7
Moderator: robbosmans
Ended up using 2.0mm spokes, DT Revo were a bit too flexy at 1.5mm. The stiffness upgrade cost me 0.9g!
Wahoo mount 2$ from aliexpress. Really happy with the result, works fine even on gravel. I made the forward loops a little too big so I could correct the mount angle because making the lengths 100% identical is really hard.

Haha, I just realized that this is roughly half the weight of the lighest mount in this test: https://granfondo-cycling.com/pimp-your ... ps-mounts/

This is really cool, I should try to do something similar for my Strada Slim. Is stiffness enough to press buttons on the head unit, if there are any?
Yes, no problem especially since the Wahoo buttons are near the stem. I always pinch the computer between my fingers though, especially on the regular mount - to prevent it from rotating.
No, the loops are amost closed but oval so I can adjust the angle. The mount doesn't budge when the bolts are tight.
Thanks!
I'm using black Ti bolts that are only 1mm longer than stock
But with the Kalloy stem being so cheap, you could actually just drill 2mm holes in an extra set of faceplates and glue in the spokes. Hmm...
For the stem side loops, I put a 4mm bolt in my lathe chuck and wrapped a 2mm spoke around it. Should work the same by putting the bolt in a vise.
The computer side loops aren't that critical and need some wiggle room anyway, so I just did them with needle noose pliers.

Not only super lightweight but I also think this look really cool. Very minimalist, I’ve never liked ‘chunky’ looking computer mounts no matter what their weight so this is perfect to me!
That's a very cool solution

If your stem has front-facing hollow bolts (like Hyperstem) and spokes fit through, the mount can be fixed in a different way.
