Cervelo Áspero Gravel bike

Yes my goodness yes. Even the colors are stunning.
I was having a Hakka built but was just told the Easton 46-30 chainset I purchased for it does not fit. Why would you design a gravel bike that can’t accept a ring below 34? Better to design it as a pure 1x than do that. I suspect the Aspero will take the 46-30, as one of the models is an Easton 47-32 and as Easton sells a BBright bottom bracket. So I may have a change in plans (and a Hakka frame to sell, cheap!), esp as Cervelo is astute and courteous enough to sell frame-only.

Tire clearance is a bit conservative in my opinion. But considering the target audience, people racing DK200 etc., it does make sense. My only gripe with this bike is the lack of fender mounts, which I think is partly related to the available tire clearance.

Call me dumb, but confused as to why it's a 44T max for a 1x setup?

When you push the chainstays out for tire clearance but also keep the chainstay relatively short, it's going to affect max chainring size.

This is a damn hot looking bike. Too bad most of the press shots seem to be in the mustard/gold, because the Burgundy and Teal sparkle and fvcking amazing. Maybe the best looking Cervelos ever in my opinion. But more than that, the geo is actually racey. I love it. A stack with anything more than 560mm is far too much in a size 54 for my liking so this thing nails it for me. A longer reach means a bit shorter stem for my fit which is perfect for a bike like this (and obviously that's by design). I don't care about racks/fenders, I want to go fast. This thing is aimed at me. EXCEPT, no mention of CX? Presumably it would be fine, geo looks ok for that (especially with the mini-adjustable dropouts for tweaking for different tyre sizes). Previously had a Focus Mares which I loved, but tire clearance was a bit tight for gravel. I'd be all over this if I didn't just buy a Di2 SuperX.

The Apex1 build looks like a steal. The dual Ultegra RX/GRX builds are a bit odd. Exact same specs except shifters/deraillers unless I'm missing something, but the 47/32 x 11-34 gearing looks pretty great. Too much of a price jump to offer a 2x GRX Di2 option? That'd be my pick if it weren't for the mud encountered in cyclocross.

The Force AXS gearing is a compromise, and not a great one. If you're paying top dollar for this bike with deep wheels don't you want to go really fast? 36x10 is the smallest gear out of all the builds (smaller than a 40x11) but if you upped the chainring size to a 38T, you're a little shy of a what a 42x11 is (which you could still easily spin out in a race) and your easiest gear is only a bit easier than a 40x34, which usually would be enough for CX racing, but not some of the super steep stuff you get in gravel. This should be a 2x setup, or SRAM should offer a wider range cassette, something besides the insanely big/heavy/expensive eagle cassette (which necessitates a mullet setup with a different derailleur). I've complained about this since the introduction of AXS, why isn't there a 10-40T cassette?

Not exactly sure where I've read it, but Cervelo is recommending a shorter stem with this bike. So you might want to consider that as well when comparing your stack and reach, unless you're spefically looking for road fit and switching from a road bike.

The cyclingtips article mentions that, plus when you compared the geo to their other bikes its definitely longer - maybe an extra cm of reach. So you'd want to shorten your stem by a cm or two.

Just saw the olive and burgundy frames at a LBS. Awesone. They are available right now, the teal frame I want is TBA. Also, the hikes come with the Focus-developed RAT thru axles.

I stuck a 120mm on my first gravel bike, just like what I was running on my road bike at the time.... that didn't last long. 100mm stem was on for the next downhill singletrack run and I felt alot better.
