-switch Fabric Scoop Sport for Fabric scoop Pro (carbon rails) --> save 156g
-switch FSA Crankset for Easton EC90SL --> save 300g
-switch seatpost for carbon seatpost --> save ca. 100g

which would make your bike 8.62 kg!

Still wondering why you would mount sth. like the GP5000 to a TOPSTONE and not get a Caad10 or Caad12 for that kind of riding...

That's what I was thinking as well...that's why I love having a Synapse Carbon and a Topstone But if you only want to have one bike - the Topstone and 2 wheelsets isn't a bad choice at all. Since the Synapse doesn't have enough tire clearance. But if you leave the 28mm tires on all the time...Synapse/Supersix/Caad would have been a much better choice.

Caad10 + 12 as far as I recall, didn't have the features I wanted when buying, large tyre clearance, bolt through axles, internal cable routing, gears were awful (no steep peak district granny gear, with big stomp gear combo), price etc and mainly wanted a gravel bike.

80% of the time the Stone will be on the WTB Nano 700x40 as love to mix road, gravel, mtb trails, but for those days when out with the roadie pelaton I can chuck the spare wheelset on, and shes so comfy for long distance road miles.

That's what I was thinking as well...that's why I love having a Synapse Carbon and a Topstone But if you only want to have one bike - the Topstone and 2 wheelsets isn't a bad choice at all. Since the Synapse doesn't have enough tire clearance. But if you leave the 28mm tires on all the time...Synapse/Supersix/Caad would have been a much better choice.

My other bike is a full sus MTB, and only really have space for one other bike, so topstone with multiple wheelsets = holy grail

Love the Scoop Sport, as its so comfy, is the Scoop Pro of similar cushion but weight saved in the rails?

The crankset is ridiculous weight, so thats next on the list, but would like something Shimano GX which can take a stages power meter.


I have the Canyon carbon seatpost, which flexes to stop road buzz, and impacts, saved 100g ish.

Nice! Are the Ultegra rotors working well with the 105 brakes?

Working very well, and no caliper adjustment needed at all!

Only thing I found odd was the front wheel bolt through ends up in a different position (Sticking out front, instead of inline with fork leg) with road wheelset, making me wonder if the road hub is a few mm narrower? I need to get a caliper on it.

Yes - same saddle with carbon rails. Price is a but steep for the savings bit found a 2017 model (exactly the same) on Starbike for a good price.

Crank: would love the Easton but so expensive. Maybe wait for the alu version EA90 which is coming out soon. Or buy FSA SL-K modular or Rotor. GRX: only available in 31/48?! I want 30

Yes - same saddle with carbon rails. Price is a bit steep for the savings bit found a 2017 model (exactly the same) on Starbike for a good price.

I want to keep the gearing thats for sure, theres some hills where literally that top climbing gear makes them doable at a good cadence

How much did you get the saddle for? I'd want to spend around £70ish tops I guess

Another thing thats heavy apparently is the bars but I adore the angle and width of them

Of course 31 is not that much bigger than 30. But if I buy the GRX 31/48 crankset I'd have to buy the new GRX front derailleur because the 105 derailleur isn't able to make the 31-48 jump. I think I'll wait for the Easton EA90 or buy FSA/Rotor...

Cheers the front mech is something i've not yet had chance to read into on the GRX, i'd prefer to keep the 105 mech as is.

Also: GRX has a different chainline (+2.5mm) - this could cause problems with the FD as well. Of course you could buy the RX600 2x11 crank (which would be the 105ish GRX - it will be available in 46/30, only RX810 is 48/31) - but with an almost 100g weight penalty of course:

GRX cranks:
RX810 1×11: 655g
RX600 1×11: 753g
RX810 2×11: 722g
RX600 2×11: 816g
RX600 2×10: 819g

Have a read of that thread, from #10 onwards.
You could consider grabbing old Sram Force 22 direct-mount arms/spindle and mashing together a cheaper/good-weight? crankset to suit.
