I’m interested in the development of this bike. Light weight bolts and fender washers on the wheel covers are a good start. What are the flipper attachments on the seatpost? Does it appear like you’re emitting flames while seated? I bet they flap nicely in the wind.

They are the yellow petals of a sunflower. The sign of summer coming after spring. The tennis ball is the center of the sunflower. If I go back to 10 speed I can probably use a old trispoke or 575 in the rear. Clipped in it spins up and cuts through the air nicely

Wait, slightly tight shoes is too much pain for you to deal with, but riding on a rounded piece of rubber on your taint for a 2 hour event is OK? You an I live in different worlds my friend. Buy a pair of Lake CX301 wides on sale which will likley help with the foot issue (and are super light) and good luck on that "saddle."

You can see my lake’s on page 2. Rounded price of rubber worked for a 170km stint. Just sit for downhill curves and dance the rest of the time. Zero drop cycling shoes would be nice though. Bought a pair of flypedals to try. The lakes weren’t unbearable.

Curious why you are using the Thickslicks. Is the road debris really bad where you are, or are you using them for looks?
From what I have read, they are a very heavy tire, weighing something like 400-500 grams each depending on which version you have.

I’m sure you are limited on what white tires are available, if that is why you chose them.

I think the idea is pretty cool, using a bike as art. I’ve seen it done with older bikes, but not a newer road bike.

Originally for durability and because it’s the first white tire that showed up on my radar with. I have a white and yellow panaracer up front now. Vittoria’s Strada is also available in white which I have in yellow on the merus.

Update. Looking into swapping for disc brakes in front. Found a cheap enough second hand propel disc fork. If it’s not backwards compatible I’ll be probably going for 1 1/4 straight with adapter sleeves. Currently my main bike for Uber eats
