I keep poking around on here waiting to hear some rumors and maybe even sneak in some spy shots. Anyone have something to share?

I know nothing but would be shocked if they don't go wireless.

What makes you think that Shimano is going to do anything other than their typical 4 year update cycle for Dura Ace?

Shimano cannot make derailleurs with batteries attached without infringing on SRAM's patents. In order to go fully wireless, they must be able to do that. as I am building a 9170 bike at the moment..... I was counting on them to stay the course. :thumbup:

To better match the staggered 3 year update cycles the bike manufacturers are settling on, and because sales volume is decreasing, so they need fresher product more often.

With amount of stock and demand of new XTR. I doubt their factory is ready yet. They might end up announcing product that they can not produce to meet demand for another year while at the same time people don't want their old product anymore. Doesn't sound like a good plan for me.

What kind of patents? A battery/anchor type Sram or any other type of battery/anchorage???
It will not be also that being the Di2 a more complex system, for other types of bike apart road and MTB, Shimano does not trust 100%, in a completely wireless system??

In the patents for the physical designs of the eTap RD and FD, the description includes directly attaching batteries to the structural members.

I'm geting a new tandem frame and I've opted for the Di2 option, including a custom two-piece eccentric that allows a wire to pass through captain's BB. Running a Di2 wire on the tandem is more complicated. Wireless would be nice on a tandem but there are too many hurdles to overcome to adopt AXS on a tandem. I'm not worried about any new product announcements by Shimano. It's gonna be a while before the new wares hit the shelves. In the meantime I want to enjoy what's available today.

Yup they have to get XTR back on track.... i think it's the same factory for their top tier parts. Bad enough the XTR crank is not the announced one and Sylence is on the shelf for another generation.

Becaue waiting two years to catch up to the other company's 12-speed gruppos is not in their economic self-interest.
