If I remember correctly, the first WC disc win was one day before AvdB from Marc Hirschi in the U23 race ;)

Anyone here with a Tarmac SL6 Pro with the holographic Toupe saddle and want to swap to a holographic Power saddle from the Venge Pro? I have the Venge and don't like the Power saddle. Looking to trade for a Toupe in the same fabric.

@kevinM :Except for the wheels youre build looks pretty much like what I am considering at the moment, although in a 54. May I ask you for a build list and maybe weights, too?

Anyone know why Spez would extend the chain stay length out to 410 on the tarmac and not the standard 405 that most “racing bikes are running.
Wouldn’t this effect climbing in a negative way.
Other manufacturers like giant have managed to keep geometry’s the same for their rim and disc version bikes.

chainstay length effect weight balance and how bike behave.
Some prefer as short as possible, they like snappy wheelie mustang feeling when accelerate hard up hill. There were a race toward sub 400mm chainstay length in the past. And then companies back off from there.
Some prefer moderate length, as they: 1.) give better chainline angle 2.) give more stable ride 3.) easier to have more tire clearance with double chainring set-up (especially when not using wider bb like bb86 or bb386) 4.) keep front wheel more on the ground when climbing (when rear wheel is directly under you, all your weight is now on rear wheel so front wheel lift). Yes shorter chainstay put more weight on the rear wheel which improve rear wheel traction. But it's balancing act between keeping front wheel on the ground (and also not slipping) and traction on rear wheel. Wider tire at lower pressure already helps in the traction part.

Shimano in the past recommended 420mm+ for disc brake as the rear spacing is wider and cause steeper chainline angle. Then they revise it down to 410mm on most recent generation groupset. That is equal to 410mm Shimano's official recommended rear spacing for rim brake bike which manufacturers violate them all the time. So that's a mute.

Frame maker generally like as short as possible because it stiffen rear triangle and save weight at the same time. Custom frame builders sometime tend to like longer chainstay as they don't concern with weight and like to give more stable and smoother ride compare to factory bike. Some company ackowledge that some ultrashort chainstay is too short but making it longer upset people who believe that shorter is better, and also weight-weenies who like less weight of the shorter one, so they now use disc brake as an excuse to lengthen it. The extra stability from longer chainstay could be useful on rougher road, especially when pair with wider tire. Disc brake user tend to more embrace in wider tire and go off pave more often too so i think it kinda make sense.

I think it doesn't matter much either way, 5mm from 400ish millimeters are not a lot for most of us. I know a former world champion who will not like the longer chainstay because it will make wheelie a bit harder  .

That’s one of the best looking Tarmacs I saw, gold logos really tie it together.

How did you get the vinyl cut exactly to measure?

I traced it, vectored it in Illustrator, and then cut in on my plotter. I usually do that on all my bikes due to not liking the stock colors, and disliking having the exact same thing as other people.
