Personally, I wouldn't even pay £700 for the C60 frame, due to frame clearance. It barely clears ~26mm.

My c60 uses direct mount brakes, perhaps you can source for one specifically for more tire clearance.

To increase tire clearance, one must upgrade to C64.

At this point IMHO I would look at V2R too with mech Ultegra or Di2 Ultegra , complete bike you can find at £3k with R8000 and £3.5k with Di2 R8050 .
How wide can one go on the C64? 25mm GP4000 on a wide rim?
Per Colnago, tire clearance on C64 was increased. They say that it can clear 28mm now. As you know, manufacturers are conservative about it. That means green light for ~30mm tire.

I would probably pay that 700GBP/ $900 for it as I use 25mm tires
But I would not pay full price these days for any Colnago or other over priced carbon bikes either...but that is just me

I've measured chainstay distance at the tires to be 36mm on the C64.
damn, you have high expectations haha....
I would totally pay 700 pounds for a second brand new C60 in my size, make it a wet weather bike or trainer bike, can't even buy a mid-range Giant/Merida for 700 pounds.

Colnago C60 as rain bike? Hypothetically, you got one. Would you ride without fenders? Everything is so wrong. I think many of you never had an opportunity to ride wider supple tires because your frame is the culprit. It’s not about expectations. Some good suggestions but I’m not wanting to go super cheap so that the frame is most of the cost of the build
I want to run 28mm tires so c64 is the way to go, don’t think a c60 direct mount will take a continental GP4000 with 28mm?
Maybe £5k budget all up?

It’s true that a 28mm conti 4000sii clincher on a wide rim could easily be too big for a C64, depending on the particular rim. Tubular, no problem. But clincher/rim combos can be all over the place. The 28mm spec is really an actual safe width with adequate clearance all round. I tested this out pretty carefully when playing around with a C64. The thing is, why on earth would you ever want to go bigger than that on a bike like this. I’ve run 27mm Vlanderens at 80psi, a bit less up front, just to test things out and really... while soft and cushy they really aren’t what I would ride on decent roads with a nice road bike. 25mm tubulars are still my tire of choice for that.
Re the C60, no, you’re not going to get a 28mm Conti 4000sii clincher in there. Even a 25mm Conti clincher on a wide rim may be tight. I run 25mm Veloflex on Boras and it’s the perfect combo in my opinion. I run the same on my C59, and also works just fine. But if you put the 25mm tubulars on the “old” narrower Boras they will get “pushed up” a bit so that the clearance is not adequate in a C59. I’ve done it, but it’s not ideal. Use a 24mm for the C59.
