Thomas said he rode over Nibs wheel which would be after he'd crashed.

Those French spectators need to get over themselves with that booing nonsense.

IMO the two Sky riders are exactly where they should be.
Focus and all work from other teams is on Thomas now, Froome on energy saving mode till TT.
We all know the conclusion already.

I think the most team still focus on Froome, they all think somewhat Thomas will collapse, as he always does.

looks like Froome attacked when Nibali went down, then gets caught and then everyone agrees to wait for Nibali? I don't see why he should get any credit for that entire incident..

He attacked before Nibs went down, Nibs crashed trying to follow

That''ll be the Nibali that a year or two back poured scorn on the idea of waiting for a rival ?

he never asked or complained about anyone to wait for him

I'm thinking ASO will throw him a bone by tomorrow anyway. It was only what, 30 seconds?

That he took the wrong rider? ;-)

It is ridiculous that Thomas is wheelsucking like this. Have you ever seen the Yellow Yersey riding like this? He’s the best at the moment, *f##k* froome and take 20-30 seconds.
But Froome needs to win, even if he’s not the best. With some luck TD beats him in the TT. I’m fine with Thomas as the winner of the tour, but I’m afraid he will have a fake bad day in the end.... unless the gap between TD and CF is too small.

The spectators were very clear about their thoughts on Froome......

Nibali has been set in the same time as the leading group.

Didn't understand the moto's tho. All the way they were too far away to support and avoid ridiculous incidents like this: https://twitter.com/laflammerouge16/sta ... 6551015424 But when the barriers came they all the sudden rode next to the riders and made Nibali crash.

Yes but at the same time it's pathetic to see Froome attack, only to get pulled back and then lose the sprint to Thomas. I'm afraid he's too loyal to fight for the jersey even though he can take it all the way to Paris if he tries.

I still hope that he's willing to chase Froome if it comes down to it because we've already seen that Froome is willing to chase him when it's the other way around. Today he did what he was supposed to and it worked out. Sit on the wheels and luckily TD had enough to pull him back to Froome

"Wheelsucking" like this happens quite often. It's not a bad tactic considering that there is a ton of climbing to come. Chances are Thomas risks way more by attacking to gain little to nothing and Sky as a team stands to benefit keeping 2 riders in a front group especially since they're top 2 on GC. Also, why do people expect the yellow jersey has to attack every stage? Thomas rode a really safe, smart race today and probably knows that at this point he has 3 more mountain stages including stage 25, which is likely to be balls-to-the-wall and a TT in which he likely won't gain a ton of time and needs a healthy margin.

What I think will happen is he will crack or crash, he and Froome will swap spots on GC.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

Historical perspective:
French TV just showed a clip of Eddy Merckx hit hard in the ribcage by a spectator on the Alpe d'Huez in 1975. Eddy lost his breath and had trouble finishing the stage (he lost the tour to Thévenet). Eddy rode down on his bike to find the spectator, and sued him; the guy got off on probation and 1 french franc in damages.
Apparently a lot of French spectators hated Merckx for his success, called him salaud and worse when interviewed on TV. They held out for Poupou. The writer Antoine Blondin commented that it was because Poulidor was the ultimate "Français moyen" who never wins anything (that seems unfair to Poulidor who won plenty, just not the Tour).

About this stage:
Why did Latour do a solo breakaway ride, utterly useless, instead of helping Bardet?
Ag2r make it easy for Sky to look smart and organized.
