Hello All,

The usual long time lurker, first time poster. I have been enjoying everyone's rides on this site immensely and take heart that their are others just as affected by the love of bikes as I.

Anyway I have been riding a 2011 Merida scultura for the past 3 years. I have clocked up about 18000 Kms on her.

I have been dropping hints to the wife about a Bianchi oltre for the past 2 years. Well it seems she has listened because I have been informed that she has purchased me(for my 40th Birthday) a 2014 oltre xr2 frame set in black. This was supposed to be a surprise gift but since I am the master of coin in my household, it was going to be very difficult spending that sought of cash without me noticing.

So I have started to assemble a few parts and will post them as I receive them.

This is a list of all the components I have purchased

Frame, Fork, Seatpost: 2014 Bianchi Oltre XR2 size 50

Headset: Fsa
Seat: selle San Marco fx carbon open
Stem: Deda Superleggero 100mm
Bar: Deda Superleggera 44cm
Bar tape: Lizard Skin Celeste
bottle cages: Deda Carbon Bottle Cages
Groupset: Campagnolo Super Record EPS V2
Wheels: Enve SES 3.4 Clinchers
Hubs: Chris King R45
Tires: Continental GP4000S
Pedals: Garmin Vectors

I currently use a Quarq Elsa Power meter on my Merida and really want power on this bikers well. SRM is currently out of my budget. The only options I really have are Powertap and the Garmin Vector. I decided to go with the Vectors as I really wanted to try the CK hubs.

I will be building her up after my birthday in early April after my kids have given me the frame.

Anyway here are a few pics of the components I have received.

beautiful frames and great choice of kit...but why not power2max or quarq crankset?

I wasn't aware a quarq crankset would fit onto the Xr2 as it is BB386. I don't know much about power2max. I am in OZ so not sure if it is popular here. My LBS carries the vectors so it was the easiest choice. Would love to hear opinions on them.

Nice.

Not sure why you'd want two different PMs as they're not cheap - Isn't it possible to move the Quarq crank fairly easily?

With my DA7950 SRM it's standard Shimano so you undo 2 bolts on the NDS crank with the torque wrench and the spindle end cap with a plastic tool, push crank out then do the reverse on the other bike. Takes all of 5 minutes and is certainly easier than taking pedals off.

Awesome! I have pretty much the same bike and you are in for a hell of a ride. It simply is fantastic. Happy birthday and enjoy some of the finest of cycling equipment.

Thank you for the tip Mr Fish. Tbh I'm not that fussed about running 2 separate PM's as I will still be using my merida as a training/bad weather bike. Plus I want to keep the group set as consistent as possible.

excited for the build! the enve wheelset with chris king hubs looks great!

I have the garmin vectors and using the proper tools, switching the pedals between two bikes is a 5 min task, max.
