DA9000 Front Derailleur Spring Tension

I've been having some trouble with my DA9000 FD where it doesn't shift under heavy load (e.g. out-of-the-saddle climbing on the big ring and shifting to small ring). It seems like there isn't enough spring tension to shift it over when there is higher chain tension - I have to let up a bit to get it to shift.

Is this a faulty derailleur or is there some way to address this?

Could be cable friction. Also check the BB guide.

What chain, what crankset/chainrings?

Oddly enough I had to use more front cable tension then I did with 7900. Works like a charm now.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

All standard DA9000 with 52/36 chainrings. Cables are brand new... (will check the BB guide)

Can't see how more cable tension would help. Wouldn't it be the opposite?

what frame? I didnt put a barrell adjuster in and was a bitch to setup that said its sorted now. did you use the cable guide tool to ensure the cable was routed into the mech the correct way as there are two ways to route cable?

^That, also check the fd is correctly aligned in terms of height and rotation.

No, the shift should be snappy and fast. I wasn't getting the top trim position until I used a 2nd hand tool to take some cable tool slack. When its in the lowest trim position very lightly click it once. if it doesnt move into the 2nd position noticeably and produce chain rub in little/little then there is not enough tension. This is what was happening to me, but when diagnosing it I kept swiping to the big ring all the way and couldn't figure it out.

The rotation setup was more crucial for chain rub and trimming.

Even though it looks to be installed correctly,it may be a bit too close and not have enough leverage to shift the chain. It may need to be moved up a tad.

Will test it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

You need to put more tension, the 11 speed front derailleurs need a lot tension.

Another vote for tension.

I have been running the FD9000 since April, and set it up myself, rather than having the shop do it. The whole 9000 groupset is very sensitive to small errors in alignment and tension.

I fitted a barrel adjuster which was basically essential to get the tension dialed high enough for decent functionality.

Is the mode converter in the correct position?

Check out the FD9000 Dealer Manual to make sure.
Turn down the suck knob.
