FWIW pros talk about how their 1, 5 and 20 minute powers have not increased 'that' much over the years. However it's their 1, 2 and 3 hour power where the years of riding/racing really show (and improve).
I remember KWalker saying years ago how Danny Pate would go out and do 3 hours at 300w. For training. But that's only possible after years as a professional.
Sunday just gone I was supposed to be racing but it was cancelled.
So I went out and did a tempo ride for a few hours instead
I don’t know what’s changed but recently my numbers have JUMPED!
Checked your PM is calibrated?

The increase is the same across three different PMs.
New quarq dzero
Recently Cal’d SRM
Power2Max type s
I re’zero’ before and after every ride or session and all offsets are stable.
Moved up to around 5.1w/kg at FTP. (Not 20 mins, that’s more like 5.33w/kg)
Besides. W/CdA is more important to me now.

Has nothing to do with being a beggar.
I guess I could, but realistically, it’s a time and money exercise in something that I don’t see a huge problem with.
Numbers are same/similar across all 3 so it’s not like my training is suffering.
YMMV.

SRM for sure still the gold standard. New pm’s just trying to under cut and do some marketing hence you see the pros using others in public. Many still pay for their own Srm

I could not disagree more ulty. Who is now paying for SRMs? None I have seen.
And Stoo you would never see an issue if you didn't look for one? But if you're happy with that no stress. Just runs counter to somene who is so details focused in every other aspect?

I do see your point, but a handful of watts here or there isn’t going to make a huge difference.
All three track very close to one another based on speed vs power on my Lemond Revolution.
Rudimentary testing I know, but it’s not as if I train to an absolute specific number, generally a range around a target.
For example Z5 intervals around 425w. If that’s 420-430w that’s ok.
Adaptions will still come.

"away from the variables of the road and track that can affect results"
Which, given I don't ride in a climate controlled lab, means reading lightly is all I'll do with these results. You'll never find a SRM temp drif if you don't test for it

Yes indeed, temp difference is there. In my experience it’s been more pronounced with powertap than Srm fwiw
