I am tempted in doing a VO2 max lab test, with gas exchange measurements, to get a better knowledge about my "real" thresholds instead of an estimation based on my Critical Power curves (i.e. taking my 4 min best power as VO2 max threshold and my 60min best power as my Lactate Threshold).
Have any of you already carried out such a test and what learnings did you draw from it, compared to Critical Power values ?
VO2 max lab testing's usefulness

I did it as a Junior as part of medical testing for a team.
My V02 max was a lot better than my racing suggested at >70, which was not very useful to know.
With the feedback of my numbers relative to the names at the time, I was more confident in my career choices.
