They're heavier. They cost more. They look kinda strange. Why should I buy/wear bib shorts?

A light bike doesn't replace good fitness.

I own several pairs of normal lycra shorts.
I've never really understood bib shorts.
I've never needed to wear braces/suspenders.
Why do people like them so much?
What's the deal?
vertebrae | Precision braking and shifting.
vayakora | Eco mouse mats: silk, linen, cotton, ramie, bamboo, etc.

Comfort. No elastic on the waist.
Stay in place better.
My first pair of bibs meant I never bought cycling shorts again.

I wear shorts on the trainer to help with cooling and bib shorts outside
Far more comfortable and dont move. Wouldnt ever consider going back to shorts outside

Same as other have said, they stay in place, comfortable without the elastic around the waist. I didn't get the fuss either until I tried them, now it's bib's all the way for me now. Shorts for the indoor trainer only now for me as well.

Another upside is that they are high in the back which means that you won't show skin when/if your jersey glides up your back.

I'm short legged and long torso. I just can't find the right sized bibs for me. So I choose based on thigh and waist size. I'm thinking of adding a 5cm lenght to the "suspenders" so they don't pull down on my shoulders (lungs!!) so much. I preffer the comfort of no braces, but understand the idea of a "comfortable" bib...sort of...

Louis :)

I mostly wear “roadsuits” because of my long torso. Most jerseys are too short for me, so a one-piece roadsuit ends up 1) not showing my midsection and 2) not pulling down on my shoulders as hard as bib straps.

Are you meant to wear the base layer over or under the bib straps? :?

Under the straps, unless you like having to take off your baselayer when you take a dump at the cafe.

How many people have picked up a pair of bibs and thought, nope, these are just too damn heavy.

Well, relying on the concept of collective intelligence/wisdom I went ahead and ordered a pair of bib shorts (online).😬
