Where I could do a direct comparison (Fulgaz film of a local ride vs the ride itself), I found I could maintain a much higher cadence on the trainer than IRL, and thus a much faster time on the trainer than IRL. I remember reading somewhere that someone noted a 10 minute difference for the Alpe d'Huez Zwift vs IRL.
Perhaps irrelevant, but I also notice that the oldest person to do a vEveresting is 80 vs the oldest person do do an Everesting IRL is 75, which is consistent with vEveresting being easier, but isn't direct evidence....
Speaking for myself only, I was disappointed that my Everesting this year took about the same time as last year, and that I completely failed to meet my goal of reducing turn-around time. Next year, I will try to do much better so I am not out on the course so long. I am now the 7th oldest person to complete an Everesting IRL.
