Well, it appears that the software will programme an eddy-current brake to change its delivered load, based upon feedback on current load from an ANT+ PowerMeter, to match the projected load calculated from a Google Earth altitude profile input for a pre-selected course. That would be about as close as you could get to real riding indoors. We'll test it this week and see...

The Wahoo Fitness system seems to be doing something similar: except it's open source.

Tacx has the same feature with its real life video + google earth option. To use the google feature though you need to purchase the license which is quite cheap I think. You can make any route and ride it on the tacx TTS software. I havent bothered though, the videos are enough for me.

Nope. The SRM-version only acts as a display and allows the video to sync with the speed sensor. Damn.

In order to get the Google Earth Altitude feature to generate load, you need to use the Cyclops, Kettler or Daum ergometers. Those are all big, ugly, expensive tools.

Trés cool. I'm waiting for something that can hook up to a quarq on rollers :)
I only train on days that end with "y".
