For the sake of this forum please consider to add the following to the forum rules:

ITS UNAPPROPIATE FOR A FIRST TIME POSTER TO RECOMMEND A SELLER OR PRODUCT

reason:
To avoid idiotic doubtful discussions like in this topic>
Lightest (useable) saddle in the world

I disagree one of main the reasons I read WW is new products.

The moderators should not be the shopping police, buyer beware. I have found some of the best cycling things I own because of 1st posts.

Also I am reasonably sure that you are using unappropriate incorrectly and that you mean inappropriate, but I am just guessing.

I also disagree, I see nothing wrong with introducing new products to the forum, especially if they are slanted towards high end performance.

If a poster starts overdoing it by repeatedly posting about their products then maybe a subtle word in the ear, but otherwise, it's all good for me.

I posted over in the thread that started this call for a new rule but I was directed here since apparently I am "blind". Well, I'm not blind. I just thought the other thread more appropriate for my post. But now that I've so kindly been directed here, I'll reiterate that I see nothing wrong with posting on new products whether it is your first post or 1000th post, so long as it is more informative than blatant advertising.

This has nothing to do with new products.
This is a common rule on other forums to prevent misuse. To avoid spam and to limit disguised commercial activities / advertising.

Adding this rule would take away doubts. Nothing to do with a so called shoping police.
You are entering this subject just only from your own limited view. Try to see in more global views.

Read above why.
Maybe WW also should make a rule not to use a signature for commercial things. ( like yours . . . .)

I posted may the blind will see . . .
Just an overall message that people need to open their eyes. All readers in that topic. Not meant to you personal. Never said you are blind, thats not the meaning. On my turn its just crazy that you all in that topic didnt want to see how you are conned by the TS. 10 years he is in a read only mode he said. Sure, you all act like sheep and swallow this nonsense. How can people believe such a thing . . .

Btw
Did you know you easily can set off in tapatalk the very annoying message: Sent from my xxx Phone . . . . ??
You are on a specialised forum discuss things on advanced levels (at least people do an attempt to that) and then the unawareness of this spam message in every post they do doesnt match imo.

Sorry you all 3 are just persons that doesn't want to see from wider perspective. You only see and think in restrictions.
But Good guidelines, rules and etiquette makes the forumexperience just better.

@BRM : Keep calm. have a ride. 8)

You just reached a point : I've read enough of your fast-paced ans somehow insulting reactions.

There are more effective and classier ways to express yourself. Take a seat (it may be an online-advertised homemade carbon saddle) and grab a pen.

First, I found you and a lot of your recent posts a little too enraged or grumpy to say the least. If it's a regular pattern, it might prevent you to be listened to seriously and it maybe be already the case ... and the vicious circle that causes your grumpyness. I can sense that your fine advice are hidden behind too much tension.

Then, you should buy new keyboard - maybe by searching for a first post that promotes a 102-keys Di2 model in titanium - with a working apostrophe key (I'm french but I sure know that "its" is not equal to "it's") and that don't have a capital letters in STUCK-MODE-CANYOUREADITNOWITSBIG.

And please use a little less telegraphic "words".

These three sorts of behaviour are part of the net-iquette and respect we all expect from everyone. And you expect that also from us. Apply your own rules to yourself at first. Then, you'll be more convincing. To my eyes, moreover if you want to sell me some carbon saddle of yours for example.

Now, I should give my point of view about your request since you and the regulators are crabing for it in order for them to opt in favor of it ... or not :

- First or 20th post is not an issue. As you said, we, enlightened bike amateurs, parts buyers, LBS rats, we're not sheeps. We can therefore separate the wheat from the chaff at first glance.

- I understand what you're goal is but the post you mentionned - which includes one of your grumpy reaction I was refering to before - is not a good example of what you're fighting.

- Your concerns about the forum contents, its quality and level of usefulness are legitimate and welcome, but I just see a knee-jerk reaction. Seeing how the forum is going nowadays, be sure we all (or we're at least enough) keep an eye on how that level should be kept unchanged or improved.

- There are no small off-topic ads in between answers and posts on any of the large amount of content I've been reading for many years. Be sure, there won't be any, we'll react far before the invasion

- I'm can be bothered by huge images that clutter some posts. Often, the posters wanted to show us a macro shots that is requested to see a detailed location or smallest parts. But it's another issue ...

- You're right to say the least: Tapatalk/iPad/Smartphones automatic signatures are a crime of high treason in France. But it's another issue ... By the way, should we request a second rule against it ?

On the current matter, just wait for more feedback, don't jump at our neck this way, please.

More broadly, if you think we're all sheeps, if you think we cannot disagree, if you find it embarrassing to educate, insult and fight against what the forum has became and finally if you don't look for anything here and don't find what you should: I guess these are signs that's it's the right time for you to stay away from it. I maybe better if you could do it before we feel that particular time has come. And don't show me your pedigree, as we said before, a first or 100th post can be equally illegitimate. Regardless of your long experience here, the number of your posts, the width of your tires, the depth of your wheels, if "this is it", do not make it last too long, to keep the forum clean, it should be a nice departure "gift" from you.

Do not try to re-educate us after reading my reply as it will be another useless attempt from you: My reply is your own powerful piece of art. Remember : by just reading your last 5 so-called "replies"

My lines and somehow the previous ones, should ring a bell ... on some drop-bars of yours, no ?

If you're not the one I'm guessing you are, as Vince Neil would say, you're invited, but your (grumpy) friends can't come.

Cheers ! :beerchug:

You like to write a lot, a lot that has nothing to do with the subject.
That style doesn't make discussions better. You only blur them.

I think my writing style and format is way more readable and effective than yours.
The things I write is not your problem but your thoughts about my words is your problem.
You are under the spell of your own interpretations. Please start taking my words exactly as they are instead of making your own stories of them.

But at least you gave me another idea.
I see reasons to limit the size of signatures.

No issues here. I don't mind being informed on new products. Actually find some of the discussions (bar the ranting about newbie posters) pretty helpful.

Me too.

I also can't read these super-long posts like the 2 above. If I had to, I'd probably print them out and read them during a "break".

You are so overreacting, Sir!

I didn't just open a thread, paste a link refering to something and that's it.

I posted something that is related to this forum - weightweenies - expained it somehow i could and know, presented the owner of the brand and showed examples of his work. I didn't force anyone to buy any of those saddles, if someone did it was because they saw something on the product and wanted so. There are tons of threads of people showing their own work and promoting it and everybody seems to enjoy these posts (me too!). I didn't even post something of my own, i presented someone else's work!

I really cannot see what's the big deal on posting this thread as a first posting, it wasn't spam, it was quality information.

And to finish, not that i have to justify myself to you but yes i do read this forum for more than 10 years now, believe it or not. Not that i had to but i even gave you examples of people who used to post at the forum by that time. Sorry for being probably an older reader of this space than you, apart from not posting anything yet. Sorry about that!

Do you know what i think about bike/etc forums? People use these to escape from their problems, routines, to find solutions for their (bike related) problems. You try to make this like a dictatorship, if it's not as you think than it's because everyone else is blind or a sheep. Please, move on, have a ride!

I flagged ydmint, fast. Guess that's the best we can do, given this peculiar trait of the forum.

And to BRM, perhaps you can simply pm your suggestion to the forum admin directly in the future? This thread is rather pointless, some say yay, some say nay, and it's all just talk.
