Stretching an alloy frame...

Especially for light weight issues concerning cyclocross / touring bikes & parts.

Ok so I've got an unused Voodoo Limba with disk bosses on the sliding dropouts and 130mm spacing I had it built up with cantilevers ages ago.

What are peoples thoughts on forcing a 135mm wheel in? If it was steel I'd just bang it in and not even worry about it!

If there's enough 'springiness' in the frame you might get away with it, but anything that requires you to set or permanently distort the frame will likely cause a weakness and decrease the expected life of the frame. Most aluminum/aluminium alloys have a very small plastic-deformation tolerance - go beyond it and cracks start appearing.
