Last year I ran Griffo 34s, but the older style (one less row of knobs on each side). I didn't think they were that big, but I like the biggest tire I can get away with. I guess that is the mountain biker in me. When you look at an inflated SSC 32 next to a 34, they don't look much different. It is the same tread mounted on different sized casings. In my opinion, since the weight difference is almost negligable, what is the advantage of going with the smaller tubular? I would prefer a wider footprint in the corners and potentially more bump absorption of the 34. The corners are where one tire is going to shine over another in a cross race. Having a little more tread on the ground should allow you to go faster through them.
