current gravel bike weight 8.6kg with pedals & bottle cages.
new bike next year target weight 7.9kg (yeah just trying to go for a 7.x number tbh) with new handlebars & wheels & frameset.

Haven't got cages or computer mount on yet but in a totally rideable state (pedals, sealant, etc.), a small MOG with Red XPLR is right at 8.0kg. Looks like I have a little bit of work to do to get those ~150g off!

Also; if you compare the weight of a gravel bike to a road bike let's not forget the weight of the tires. Light road tires are around 250k. Typical gravel tires are around 450g if not more. So already by changing the tires (and also less sealant) you drop 400-500grams.

That's true, I could put my road race wheels on it (such an odd thought, for some reason) and see what happens. No, wait, those are 12sp, so I can't. Though I guess I could switch cassettes but I'm tired and that seems like too much work at the moment.
Based on two days and 200 km on a rental Vielo V+1 bar model with the integrated handlebar, V+1 Race is on top of my list for a fast and fun gravel frameset. The Vielo sure looks sharp and it seems they did so many things right from the start. Now that newer groupsets are UDH only with more of them to come, smaller companies seem to have difficulties to adapts their frames in time. Likely they have ordered quite some stock of non-UDH frames and retooling is not that easy in smaller production volumes, especially overseas.
Maybe also, the implication of UDH was not that pressing until late as the standard is out there for some years already and in all likelihood Sram gave indications to companies beforehand that newer groupsets will need it. Similarly, the new Open frame is compatible with a newer standard of dropout that no info is available about. That should be Shimano's version of the UDH as they never adapt a standard 1:1 but mostly do something that does the same and is kind of compatible.

I mean what does the vielo offer? No aero tweaks, not fantastically light, not particularly wide clearance, no 2x capacity, v expensive for what it is. You can get allroad bikes that have all of those things for half the price.
