Ohh yeah! That's very true, when I want to remove the handlebar. I have to loosen the expander otherwise there is no way to get it off. I have the same problem. I got a video, i'll send to Eddy. Which shim adapter did you order?

Yeah I just ordered the same one. 31.8mm to 28.6mm, comes in 2 sizes from what I can see. I just measured the tideace one. That's sitting at 31.9mm so it's too big and causing the problem? New one should arrive in few days. Luckily don't have to dismount anything and can easily put it together. You would have to mod it for internal cable routing, gotta make a hole for the cable passing.

Let me know!

Yeah, the first one is for 1 1/8" to 1". Be careful to order the one for 1 1/4" to 1 1/8". There is no need for any modification as the brake lines run in front of the handlebar. Just take the bar off, remove the current sleeve and install the new one. Hopefully, that will solve the issue. Here is a video of my handlebar: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/B0P6u2X49Pw

Yeah got it. Dismantled the handlebar for now while I wait for the new expander. Somehow I always knew something was wrong but just rode with it. Wheels also needed servicing with new bearings so I guess its one of those weeks! :)

I did not find the handlebar on the TanTan website. The Tideace one is from their other gravel frame (CR08).
This is the Tantan handlebar HB047 http://tantancycling.com/index.php?_m=m ... &p_id=1051
this is the one from Tideace https://imgbb.com/vwCn68Q,and https://imgbb.com/DzQsWft

I think the Ritchey sleeve did the job. Now I am able to move the handlebar and only tightening the ahead top cap gave me almost zero headset play. The old one looks like this https://imgur.com/a/LkrYoQO

I will finish the job this weekend.

Sounds good! You got it quickly. Mine will arrive friday. Did you still use the metal shims or not needed?

Shims are needed otherwise the headset cap will rub on the frame

Via E-Mail to Eddy. The issue is the handlebar that sits too tight on the fork. You should be able to get easy on and off when the stem bolts are loose. Tightening the topcap does not solve the problem because the force is too low (and the handlebar sits too tight) to compress everything, you just move the expander out of the fork. I never go over 2 nm for the top cap. Thats enough to compress everything if all parts are in place.

I will try to exchange the Tideace reduction sleeve with the Ritchey one and hope that will solve the problem. I dont want to wait several weeks for a replacement part.
Can't you wedge something in the gap of the stem when the stem bolts are loose to increase the gap ever so slightly?

Sure, but with the new sleeve it works. :)

contacted Tideace about tyre clearence with 2by system. It`s 50mm max even with road groupsets like force axs or ultegra di2. So no limitations like on Ridley astr or 3t exploro
