Following WW tradition, let's start this thread now as I think we can all agree that the Cervelo Aspero frameset requires a refresh. And I think 2024 is the year this is going to happen.
The original Aspero was released 5 years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if an announcement is coming in the next several months.

What updates do you think Cervelo will announce to the Aspero?
1. UDH but no Transmission yet or will Red / Force Transmission arrive with the new Aspero?
2. Longer, Lighter, more Aero frame?
3. Headset cable integration similar to Soloist? or continue with Cal5/R5 style integration? or provide both options?
4. Aspero 105 Race and Aspero Rival AXS Race models? Base model with a Reserve wheelset
5. Within-frame storage options

The things I would wish for (as an Aspero-5 rider) would be:

1.: Downtube storage so I can stop lugging around a top tube bag for tools.
2.: An integrated barstem with fully internal routing and directly mountable aero bars like on their S5 or the Factor Ostro. Since the current Aspero is using a 1 1/4" steerer, hardly any barstems (and non with decent aero bar support) work for it.
3.: Some aerodynamic optimization. Since the original came out, Ridley and Factor have taken the lead among gravel race bikes in that regard.
4.: Support for wider 650B tires. 650B because that could potentially only require some more width than on the current model and wouldn't affect wheelbase and handling as much as allowing for wider 700C tires. After all, I think it's important that the Aspero keep its snappy handling with road wheels fitted.
5.: A threaded BB
6.: A UDH

The things I actually think they're going to be doing is jumping on the slightly lighter, slightly more aero hybrid train and fitting a UDH. But I'd be happy to be surprised. ; )

fascinating conversation! After five years, it's clearly time for the Cervelo Aspero to get a makeover. Personally, I'm looking for some cutting-edge capabilities like integrated cable routing and UDH, as well as possibly some new color possibilities. Hopefully, the design will also be lighter and more aerodynamic. How do you all feel about the 105 Race and other possible models?

Any opinion about sizing for the aspero?
My girlfriend is 166cm / between 5'5 and 5'6.
Can't decide between the 48 and 51 for her.
What do you guys reckon?

I just had a pre-fit with my coach (it involved lasers, so you know it was cool) and the Aspero is one of the bikes I'm looking at, based on my reach and stack needs (want longer reach and higher stack than on the road bike). I currently ride a 51m Soloist on the road, but it looks like sizing up on the Aspero would be the right move. That's not often the case with gravel frames; you'd gain stack but lose standover, such as with the Crux. But the Aspero might be a good case for her to look at the 51 more than the 48. But get a good fit!

I'm 165 cm with a 75 cm inseam and I'm riding a Cervelo Caledonia in 48, which fits fine and isn't all that different from an Aspero - slightly more compact even.

Cervelos size chart recommended a 51 for me and I'm sure it would have worked too but I'm very certain that 48 is the better choice for me. If I had to make a decision for your girlfriend I'd opt for size 48.

Also consider the dimensions of the finishign kit. The 48 Caledonia came with 165 mm cranks and 38 cm bars, while the 51 would have come with 170 mm cranks and 40 cm bars. With my measurements short cranks and narrow bars are very important and I guess your girlfriend might benefit from them as well.

Any word on whether Cervelo will update the Aspero-5 like they did the regular Aspero earlier this year? In the market for a new gravel bike and wondering whether to hold out or just get an Aspero.

Also thinking of getting an R5 CX as a gravel bike instead - any recommendations on how this would compare to an Aspero for gravel riding? No plans to do cross.

Didn't they just launch the new Aspero instead of both old ones?

About the R5-CX it's a proper cross so very high bb and high toptube which doesn't make the seatpost flex so much. It takes pretty big tires but I would never recommend it to anyone not doing cross.

No they only updated the Aspero not the Aspero 5. I'm thinking of either getting an Aspero or a R5 CX for winter riding (mainly) and gravel but would hold out for an Aspero 5 if anyone knows it will be updated and released soon?

What are you expecting from a new "-5" release?

If you want completely hidden cables you can just buy the ST31 stem + a compatible handlebar.
