Was playing around with my GRX today with 30/46 and added the CS-M8000 XT 11-40 cassette. Perfect range for the gnarly hills around here and shifts fairly decent however the cassette rattles like hell. I put it on Terra CLX rear wheel with shimano HG EXP freehub but thinking I either need a spacer or a different free hub for this cassette. Any thoughts?

MTB cassette needs the standard spacer if you are using on normal shimano 11sp freehub body.

By chance know the thickness of the spacer? 1.8mm?

Quite good.. on a scale from 1-10 its an 8 compared to the 11-34 ultegra casette..

I've got 11-40, 46-30, and RX800 rear mech. I concur 8 out of 10. The laggiest shift oddly isn't the 11-13-15 cogs, where the upper pulley is farthest from the cogs, but somewhere in the middle.

The B-screw is far enough out that I adjust it a bit when switching to the 10-36 on my road wheels, but I don't change chain length.

Or is that 11-36?
If not, what cassette and freehub are you using?

Nope, 10-36 like I said. SRoad 11-sp cassette, XD driver on DT Swiss 350. One piece milled steel cassette, light (282g, plus XD is lighter than HG), shifts great, very happy with it
