Hi,

I bought Garmin Edge Aero mount and want to replace original bolts with aluminium. All of bolts are M3 and I am not sure if they will be strong enough. I had Lezyne mount with M4 bolts and it worked fine, but M3 seems to be quite thin. I wrote to PRO BOLT, but they are cannot confirm that it is safe to use their bolts.

What do you think? Is it safe to use aluminium ( PRO BOLT) in clamp and device mount?

My Edge has a strap. If the mount breaks, the strap would keep it attached. If my handlebar breaks, well, I'm screwed so I do not think I will be worried about my Edge.

I think you should take one for the team and test it out. That is assuming you have a strap.

Yes, I have. Device is quite light ( Edge 130 Plus).

I tried to break that bolt with pair of pliers and it was quite easy. There is rubber between clamp and handlebar, so it is not neccessary to tighten bolt too much, but I am still not sure if it is good idea.
