Light 28mm tire for touring/road

As topic name states, I need a light touring/road/light gravel tyre, in size no more than 28mm, maybe 30mm max with thread pattern is as close to slick as possible, preferably lightweight.
At the moment, I ride 2018 SS EVO rim brake version, which has 28-30mm tire clearance; wheelset is custom built: DT 240 hubs, RR440 rims, 28/28 Competition spokes, tires are Conti GP5000 25mm (measuring around 26mm on current rims).
Ride quality is ok, but a little but harsh, want wider tires to run lower pressure for more compliance, as I ride long distances and now mainly do touring on this bike, and here in Japan, countryside roads aren't always great.
I am considering:
1) Just switch to 28mm GP5000S and go tubeless
2) Panaracer GK slick, but I don't like reliability, they cut really easily
3) Rene Herse Chinook Pass Extralite can someone comment on their puncture resistance?
4) Other variants?

If it's right on 30mm, it will fit. I have successfully fitted 28mm Panaracer GK SS, on reynolds ar x rims measuring 29mm and it was some 5mm space left. I think it's due to my frame size (56cm)
DA9100 calipers should clear 30mm prerry easily also and, on a current rims, it will be a bit undersized I think:

Conti 5000S TR is true to size when mounted to a rim with an internal width of around 19mm. If your rim is say, 17mm, then a 30mm tire will come in at around 29mm. I have mounted a 32mm tire onto a 17mm rim and it came out to 31mm.

I've been using a pair of GP5kTL 28mm for a couple of years, they have been trouble-free and tough, I've done stretches of light off-road on them. The new GP5KS TR is supposedly a lighter tyre so I wonder if it has given up some toughness in favour of speed.

The most comfortable riding tires will ALWAYS BE the ones with the most TPI combined with a wider tire, however tires with high TPI are also more prone to flats, unless it's a Conti 5000 which while it does have a high TPI they also put in a flat belt which in turn made the tire stiff feeling.
I would probably recommend the Pirelli PZero Velo, these have been reviewed by many riders who say they are most comfortable riding tires outside Vittoria tires, and the Pirelli's do come in a 28.
Remember too that if you switch to a wider tire, you don't use the same amount of PSI as you did with 23's, you use less PSI depending on your body and bike weight combined. Another good tire is the Vittoria Rubino Pro III tire.

People's preferences wrt tires vary a lot, and tires are cheap enough that you can experiment. If it was me I'd go with RH/compass for their superb feel, and see if they last enough for your conditions. The standard line is great, much better than gravelkings. The EL have somewhat fragile sidewalls, but the center rubber is fine. I just retired a rear 28mm compass EL after 4-5K km without a flat, it wore thin, but that's not the rule.
A shout out for Vittoria Corsa Control 30mm; fitted them last August (2020) on my 'winter hack' Domane ALR rim brake bike; and run tubeless, they were fabulous. Just put more sealant in than recommended. I ride on some pretty rubbish road surfaces, and can't find any fault with them. Saying that, they have gone up in price since I purchased them.....

No complaints with Rene Herse but with limited miles. I have extra light versions of Chinook Pass and Stampede pass, both have held up, rolls and corners well on pavement and with occasional gravel use with the Stampede pass. I've rode each probably no more than 500 mi. I rode GP5000 and before that, GP4000 and I noticed a slight rolling resistance improvement between GP4k and 5k but not much difference when I switched to RH. This could be only perception though since I also went from 25c-28c-32c. For 28c, I'd probably stick with GP5k.
I enjoy the feeling of the Vittoria tires. Corsas feel nice at 28mm measured nearer 29. I'd purchase the control ones if I needed more puncture resistance, but haven't had an issue with the Corsa over past 6 month. Gp5000 feel stronger in hand.
