The spirit of Grav-lo-cross. No but seriously, cyclocross and gravel go here!

In a process of getting Sram AXS XPLR rear derailleur and cassette...

10-28 is probably not possible at all...

LMK what you think.
Thanks

I had read that 10-36 was the smallest it would work with, but while not XPLR/AXS I've had no issues running 11-28 with my long cage Rival mechanical setup.

Why should it not work with 10-28/10-33? Smallest cog is the same and also xdr-cassette

I would think so but did anyone try this yet? Maybe you have to do some B-gap adjustment?

Because the pulleys getting to far from the biggest cog or too close to the smallest if adjusted "correct". Their made a certain raise to be able to work great both with a big biggest cog and small smallest.

I haven't tried the XPLR but regular shortcage with a Garbaruk cage doesn't like the 10-28 so well, bad gearing on the small cogs.

I believe that the AXS road/XPLR use different cassette spacing to the Eagle (I think this is why Ratio make different ratchets for their Eagle and Wide conversions too) so the XPLR cassette won't play nice woith the Eagle mech. But, a 10-45t Shimano cassette should work if that's the sort of spread you're after.

I finally sourced a 10-33 and it works well enough with the Force AXS XPLR rear derailleur.

To those curious for usage specific to cyclocross, why not use the 11 speed etap derailleur and 11 speed cassettes for cx? The new AXS shifters work with the older 11 speed etap and it's going to be a lighter and cheaper setup.

Is this new news? Pretty sure that is not compatible

That's good, though a little shitty they're feature gating Rival AXS out of it.

You know what would be really nice ... if AXS RDs worked with 11 speed cassettes, or do they maybe, and it's just not a publicised feature?
