2022 Scott Addict Gravel

Picked up the new Addict Gravel 40, with 12 speed GRX, a couple of weeks ago. It looks orange in pictures, is described as orange, but in reality is a really nice Coral colour with a bit of shimmer. Seems I am destined to own bikes that don’t show the real colour in pictures - my sapphire ice Cervelo S5 is the same.

Changed some bits. Added a 50/34 Dura Ace 9200 chainset, Hunt Carbon Gravel Race 40 wheels, XT rotors and some Roval Terra 40cm carbon bars. Chunked off some weight til I added the Specialized Pathfinder Pro 47mm monster truck tyres at 600+ grams per tyre Bike is pretty much bang on 8.9kg ready to ride (elite cages, Favero Assioma duo pedals and Wahoo mount on the bike) which ain’t bad.

As for the ride. I am utterly loving this thing. May be the most impressed I have initially been with a new bike and I’ve had a good few top end bikes - yet this is actually the base model.feels great on the road, with only the more relaxed fork angle giving it away as a gravel bike, but feels utterly superb on the trails. Pretty happy haha.

Thanks. Yeah new 12 speed GRX mechanical, with 50-34 up front (but came with 46-30 GRX crankset I think) and 11-36 rear cassette.

I think a new 12 speed GRX Di2 is on the way - thread on the CX & Gravel forum about it somewhere.

I have also already upgraded the crank to Ultegra 12s 50/34 with Giant Pro powermeter. Planning to do also 105 Di2 upgrade, but am waiting for that GRX 12x Di2, to see the price and availability.

Swapped 2x AXS (43/30x10-36) for 1x Eagle (40x10-50), just to try it out (as I had eagle on my MTB, good that AXS is so easy to swap). I think I like it a bit more (mainly the looks ). I thought I will be bothered by the jumps (I spend most of my time on a road bike in groups), but it was okay, I am used to change cadence with rolling terain/climbs. At least with this setup I can have a normal Quarq powermeter (difficult with 43/30, as I don't want PWM pedals). I might keep it like this and give my MTB T-upgrade

What's the best fenders for addict gravel? I have SKS speedrockers at the moment, but wish the front one would be little bit longer on both ends, any suggestions?

The original ones rule, too bad you can't find them. I have them on my bike and they are long and a snug fit. Work fine in all kinds of weather (it's my winter bike).

I have speedrockers too, but haven't used them too much on the Addict gravel yet.
I'd previously got a 2nd rear guard off ebay and was using that on the front. There looks to be options to use the threaded fork and seatstay mounts in place of one set of the SKS rubber mounts.
I'd wondered about a Cannondale adjustable bridge on the top of the seatstays and more mods too.
Likewise, Scott mudguards seem out of stock for the long haul here.

In my opinion the original Syncros fenders for Addict Gravel are quite narrow and really short, especially on the front. I was thinking about trying Canyon Grizl fenders for the winter.

Let me know how the original Grizl fenders work. I still have them, as previously had Grizl. Now have Addict Gravel but am too lazy to try them on. Or better said, I automaticly thought they will not fit, as Grizl has bigger tyre clearance. And still have months of time to find a solution. And use fenders on gravel only late Fall (like November) on road, when there are plenty of rainy rides.

A friend of mine had 50c tyres and has run them with no problems. Unfortunatelly I cannot remember the model. But those were not tipically looking tyres. They were somehow more bulky. Wider on the sides (in the middle of the side), and not so wide at the thread, And were deeper. Overall much more volume of air in the tyre, but not much more wider at the thread. But bulkier on the side meant more risk of side puncture, and he went back to 45c.

Looking for information about matching spacers for frame on the Addict Gravel cockpit / stem.

I have Addict Gravel 30 and am upgrading it to Farsport F1x cockpit. They have matching spacers for Addict. But my choice is Addict or Addict RC.

Can someone please confirm, if the specers on Addict Gravel are the same as on Addict RC? Naturally not the new model, but still current one. I know you can fit Creston IC SL cockpit, but am wondering more about the spacers.

I even do not know if just normal Addict on the list is meant for any older version, or are spacers on current versions on Addict and Addict RC actually different. Does someone perhaps know?

How easy would it be to pack one of these into a bike box? Tempted by the Addict 40 but it's a bit difficult to see how the cable routing works from the pics - seems to be semi-integrated.

How would it work from the perspective of removing bars or bars and stem to pack it into a box?

The cables run outside the bars then underneeth the stem and through a bolt on cover that takes the cables into the spacer that sits under the stem and then through the headset. You can kind of piece that together from the Addict Gravel manual pdf.
There's scope to run the cables tighter or looser, but with anything medium or longer you shouldn't have too much bother getting the stem to come over the top of the steerer and then fold the bars and stem down next to the frame. it's a bit of a wrangle when there's 4 cables to work with, especially getting the stem back on again, but it can be overcome. You can unbolt the guide from under the stem and get more cable slack, but then you have the work instead in getting the cables back into place and the guide fixed down again. Again it's doable but some amount of work.

Thanks Carlos. Sounds like it's possible then. I guess when setting up the bike I could purposely leave a bit of extra cable slack to ensure I can get the stem off easily enough.

Yes, mine are like that as I took out spacers but haven't shortened the cables yet, so there's a little extra length of cable loops at the bar.
That leaves plenty of cable slack to be able to take the stem off, the only question is how much extra cable wrangling it takes to get everything back on again, which is a little effort, but how much depends on just how much slack was left

The way the internal cables are done, you would also have the option to leave the stem in place, unbolt the cable guide and take the bars out of the stem. There would be enough slack to move the bars about to some extent but not huge amounts. But it might fit too, depending on your bag/box.
