How much does your gravel bike weigh? (why are they so heavy?)

The spirit of Grav-lo-cross. No but seriously, cyclocross and gravel go here!

So much of this all comes down to wheels and especially tires. I was thinking about this thread recently because I need 43mm gravel king SK's to really enjoy what my Mosaic was meant to do. I could easily shave 1lb off by swapping to 38mm Gravel King slicks. Could shave up to 2lbs off by using small tires, slicks, and using a DA9100 cassette. The loss in functionality would be tremendous though. Currently, I run HED Belgium Plus G's (25mm internal width) with CK hubs that weigh about 1500g. I ride this bike on single track, rock gardens, and pavement without issue.

I do wish it had the feel of my 15lb Moots Rim Brake on the road but that's the compromise you have to make.
Moots Vamoots RSL (2019)-Super Record 12
Cervelo S1 (2010)-Super Record 12
Kestrel RT700 (2008)-Dura Ace 9000

I know what you mean. My steel gravel is 8 kg with mini. Not quite as light as your Moots, but you do get the road bike feel.

It is mini V and tyres are 33 mm. Glides on paths, but as you say, there is a compromise.

My Open Wide in size large is 8,450g with pedals, Wahoo mount, 3 bottle cages, PM, 45c tires + plenty TL milk and rather deep wheels, and 1x12 mullet.
When I go out, I am easily into 12kg.
Wahoo Roam, a super heavy front light (Lupine AX7 + Heavy @$$ battery), Fenders front and back, tail light, Garmin Varia, spares box with 2 CO2 carriages, 2 tubes, tool, spare battery, tubeless dart tool etc, 2 large water bottles, a top tube bag for food, phone, mask etc.

I guess, that explains how a rather light bike instantly becomes a fatty.
Cervelo P5 Disc (2021) 9.1kg
Factor Ostro Gravel (2023) 8.0kg
S-Works SL8 (2023) 6.3kg

*weights are race ready, size 58/L.
