To be honest I find most light weight expanders to be fairly crap. I stick with the specialized ones which work really well.
Not the lightest but that's my preference.

Keep on mind that for people like me and you (sizes 60ish) it will be impossible to compare the bike weights...it is funny when I read about light bycicles on size 49...ridden by people 1,55 cms tall weighing 50 kgs.... :D
According to my source at Canyon weight difference between sizes is about 50g for Carbon, so how much is that between the smallest and largest size? 300g or so? I guess the only other component where size makes some difference is the bars, assuming that bigger bikes tend to have wider bars. Cranks should be almost negligible I think.

I think you are right; and actually 300 gram gap seems to much. Imagine a SuperSix at 700 grams and another at 1kg?

Wider bars - 20/30 grams? Seat post not cut- another 20/30?

A seperate but related topic is weightweenie parts not being suitable for taller individuals, likely to be heavier (you know better than I, you re tall).

Agree, although this carbon-ti works really well on my other bike. i've got a boat-anchor style 5cm deda ready if i don't feel this will do the trick ;)

My saffron (XCR stainless with carbon isp), steel custom topper, enve aero cotpit, etap AXS red, enve cages, DA pedals, Sworks power saddle, garmin mount and custom paint, Columbus futura forks weighs 9kg wether with Roval CLx 50s and GP5000 32s or with Beast 40mm gravel wheels on dt180 hubs and Terra speed 35mm tyres... and is the equivalent to a size 58.. but it's not a small frame, it's steel and it's painted

yeah, I guess typically it's a little less than that, depends on how many sizes there are and for very light frames it should be proportionally less difference...

My 2021 S-Works Crux weighs 15.75 lbs (7.15 kg) with Red/XX1 AXS, an E.13 Helix 9-50 cassette, Nextie/240 wheels, 35c Hutchinsons, 140mm Ashima rotors, E.13 XCXr cranks, Whisky No.9 12F bars, Tune Geiles Teil 4.0 stem, Specialized Alpinist post, and an S-Works Romin Evo. That weight also includes two Enve bottle cages, a Wahoo speed sensor, Wahoo cadence sensor, and a Wahoo Elmnt Bolt head unit/mount.

My previous carbon gravel bike, a Scott Addict Gravel 20, was 14.75 lbs (6.7 kg) with Force 1, EC90s, and a 3T 9-32 cassette. :noidea:

My long term plan is to get my gravel bike under 6.8kg with pedals.

I could also save quite some weight on the tires but I just like the Gravelkings in 43 too much. 8.7 isn't too bad for a bike that can pretty much go anywhere, though...and it wasn't the most expensive either. I paid just over 2000 Euros in an end of season sale plus the new components and wheels of course...so still under 3000 with quite a bit of weight optimization potential left ;)
I"ve now finally received my Farsports Gravel wheels (1398g the pair, 36mm deep, 30 wide, hookless, Novatec hubs) which has made quite a massive difference in terms of weight. I am down to 8.62kg now including bottle cages, pedals, garmin mount and a light mount. I guess that's it for now...anything else will only be changed for something lighter when broken or worn ;)
