Anyone tried the EKAR GT? Is there any difference ? I can still see the old EKAR discount on europe sites with very good prices ( 800 euros the groupset )
The old EKAR has been roughly $720-850 for almost a year now. I have yet to see a full EKAR GT groupset for sale at a place like Merlin or bike discount.
I don't think for a second there will be an electronic EKAR groupset. Just don't see it.

The Ekar lever body shape started really annoying me, and it made my hands go numb. The stupid hump is useless. Compared to 11-speed ergos, it felt much worse. So I took a file and spent 5 minutes to make it better:

Heard close to the horse’s mouth that EkaR electronic not coming any time soon. Pros have been trying the new SR 2x with aftermarket rings with some success. I have EkaR on a Crux and when it works it’s great, but it don’t always work

I have Ekar on my Grizl and have trouble with a rubbing front rotor. Any ideas?
All usual fixes tried!

I've found that a rubbing rotor means that the rotor is bent, the brake mounts need to be faced, or the brakes need to be bled. I don't know what else it could be, it's not brand-specific or anything like that. (After making sure that it's not just a matter of caliper alignment etc).

First, how much rubbing? And can you look at the caliper and see which side is rubbing? Most often, as stated, it is from a bent rotor. It could be from a misaligned caliper to something like a sticky piston. Hard to say.

Any idea whether it's possible to get the ProTech bearing seals? Got ProTech BB cups by mistake for Ultra Torque crankset, and as I understood the only difference is the seal on the bearing... But I haven't found them for sale...

You can't get just the ProTech seals, they are non-removable/bonded to the bearing. You can replace the Ultra Torque bearings with ProTech bearings on an Ultra Torque crankset.

I dunno what it is with the Ekar brakes, but I fight with them all the time as well.. I have Campy DB on my Venge and SL8 and it took 5 minutes to setup, my Diverge and Crux are so picky.. I ended up using the ACS03 rotors and not the Ekar rotors, and it seems to have bought me just a tiny bit more clearance to avoid the annoying chinging noise..

I was told the best combo to do by friends of the ladder was do the Ekar GT shifters/Rear Derailleur, but use the regular Ekar carbon crank...
Greg van Avermaet used this same setup at Unbound...
I also heard Elecronic Ekar was not in the immediate future

I’ve also heard directly from hi profile ekar user that no electronic is coming and instead he’s working on a hacked SR eps set up.

Not sure why they would be different, as they are very similar. To me, the big question is if the pistons are retracting the same.
Also, a great set up with EKAR is to use the EKAR cranks with a 38T front ring, along with the EKAR GT shifters, RD and a mix of the first half of the 9-42 EKAR cassette with second half of the EKAR GT 10-48 cassette.
Also, I have been told that there will be no EKAR eps. They are working on an EKAR SRW but no thumb button. ):

Seeing soms of the last posts here, two questions. Apart from the gt derailleur supporting the 48 tooth cog, why would you pick...
The gt shifters over the Ekar shifters? Shape of the hood, size, no ridge?
The gt derailleur over the Ekar derailleur? Better clutch with less drag?
Cheers Lars
