Got that too!bmCube wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:11 pmAs mentioned before, there are some people who have cassette noises. I think the black aluminium sleeve inside the cassette is the victim. The sleeve is rather loose and has some play. So the noise is maybe coming from the sleeve "hitting" the freehub or rocking inside the cassette. Has somebody tried to remove the body or if you didn't try to remove it, maybe a good amount of thick grease on the inside of the sleeve will help to reduce, remove the noise.

Mini review of Ekar + Galfer rotors:
I managed to put a few good kms on these now on mountain trails including some road, fast gravel, mud, 15%+ climbs and descents on loose gravel and technical singletrack so feel more comfortable offering an opinion:
*Initial impressions* - The packaging that the Galfer rotors come in is very flimsy so not much protection in shipping. The centerlock version looks - frankly - like it was assembled by a blacksmith. Definately a less polished appearance than Campy rotors. However, they are very light.
*The ride* - The rotors seem to deliver more braking power than the Ekar rotors, feels like more deceleration is possible. In theory this should come at the cost of some modulation, however I am not feeling it. The modulation is still superb. I was descending steep 15%+ rocky single-track, getting a proper boneshaking, but with total confidence that I could control my speed at will using the tips of my index fingers. A really great braking feel. I also noticed that I got no 'tinging' after heavy braking that I occasionally got with the Ekar rotors. Possibly because they are slightly thinner, but I guess they dissipate heat well too.
Overall: I wish they looked better, but the braking performance of the Ekar + Galfer combination is really awesome. Will have to wait to see how durable they are.

Some posts ago I asked about the cassette noise. So today after a "noisy" ride I did some tests. I removed the wheel and bounced it on the ground, result: noise! Then I removed the cassette and shaked it, result: noise! So I undid the cassette bolts and removed the sleeve. I reinstalled the cassette, and no noise.....
Anybody knows the purpose of the sleeve? The only thing I can think of is dirt....but I once had an edco monobloc and that cassette also didn't have a sleeve.....
Anyway, some video's:

Same here!
The inner diameter of the spacer in the cassette is somewhat bigger than the outer diameter of the freewheel body. I have put a little strip of electrical tape on the inside of the spacer, then mounted the cassette and torqued it down with a torque wrench. Bounce test is silent now, I'll put a few miles in and see how it goes!

If torqued properly I had less play, not even close to zero. In addition, the issue is that the contact surface that is contrastating the braking force (at least initially while the disk reaches the contact point on the closest tooth) is the nut, the hub back face and disk faces.de lars cuevas wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:32 pmIf torqued properly, there's no play. One would think that these were out of spec, QC would've go them. So I guess it's okay. Contated Campa HQ anyway, keep you informed!
Cheers, Lars.
That may lead to disk failure, nut releasing or hub back face failure.
The braking force has to be applied on the tooths, not on the lateral faces.

You're right. I found out when adjusting the headset play.
In use however, the problem is virtually non-existent I guess. On the fist time breaking, the Spline will make contact, and even when the disc the disc rotates a bit, it is in the fastening director of the lock ring. So I think normal use will not release the lock ring. Adjusting the headset might though....

It happened to me to use brakes to stop the bike while I was with a foot down and the bike was going backwards. Of course when you brake normally there is no issuede lars cuevas wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 6:27 pmYou're right. I found out when adjusting the headset play.

Does anybody have noticed some play from the disc brakes, but this time coming from the calipers?
I noticed some play today, but contrary to mentioned above the discs are perfectly stable, it seems that the play is coming from the calipers themselves.
But here as well, it's noticeable when rocking the bike back and forth but shouldn't be noticeable when riding, more curious if I am the only one in that case since this isn't the case in my other campy disc setups (SR 11 and SR12), only on Ekar, both front and rear

Hi. My question got forwarded to the local distributor who recommended it taking to my shop. Since my bike is a Canyon, I'll try a regular shop first, before sending it off to canyon.de lars cuevas wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:32 pmIf torqued properly, there's no play. Some pads play? It should be very limited thoughYoln wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 4:09 amDoes anybody have noticed some play from the disc brakes, but this time coming from the calipers?

You can definitely feel it. I'd say maybe 1/2mm at the pad level, which translates to couple mms at the tire circumference I'd say. I haven't had that with other disc system, which worries me a bithenryz4 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 8:50 pmSome pads play? Graveled to the Campa expert today. My creaky cassette turned out to be a non-straight derailleur hanger. It's silent now, let's see what happens.
He seemed unimpressed by the rotorplay.

Unless you bought directly from Campag, how is that Campag’s fault?Yoln wrote:Same situation here. Very annoyed at Campagnolo since I was expecting a c-link and received a chain with a pin. Not having any C-link available in the US at the moment makes it impossible for me to wax the chain... that's a real bummer... Where did you guys find the C-link online?
From the get go both versions of the chain have been available. Shimano offer most of their chains in both formats now too. The only manufacturer not to do so is Sram who only offer Powerlock connectors.

They don't sell the c-link separately (at least I couldn't find it in the US).
