So we've both made assumptions but mine is incorrect and yours isn't?

Have you tested the max tyre size you can fit on a Crux?

Thought not.

So are we both wrong or both right?

@Karvalo @ryanw

Keep it civil. You both need to learn how to discuss things without making it personal. Next person that can't figure out how to politely disagree will be going on holiday.

Your assumption that you can figure out the max tyre size on a CruX by by looking at the spec sheet of an Open is wrong.

Guys, chill. We'll very soon know the max tire clearance on a crux. Trial and error.

And your assumption that you can't potentially fit 2.35" 650B tyres on a Crux is also wrong (since you haven't tested nor provided any evidence), so we're both wrong together :beerchug:

My frame should arrive today. I've got my digital calipers ready.

My frame arrived. The front has 63mm of clearance at the widest part for tires. The rear has 61mm of clearance at the widest point for tires. Hope this helps! I'll be working on cranksets tonight after the kids go to bed!

I'd guess you could fit a 700x50 in there with 5mm clearance on each side.

I'm thinking they said 47mm max because they wanted to leave more room for mud clearance. They did the same thing with the previous crux tire clearance.

Thanks
Gavin

The problem with a 700c tire usually isn't the clearance on the stays, but clearance to the seat tube.

I'm kind of scratching my head on this as I almost feel like I installed this wrong but with the Dub Quarq (3mm spacer DS) there's quite a lot of space with a 52/36 (FSA) chainset:

Here's with 50/34 MKV Rings:

I just tried the newest quarq dub dfour model with shimano dura ace 52/36 chainrings and it does not fit. The inside of the 36 tooth chaining will rub the frame. The teeth clear just fine. It's the actual inside of the chainring that rubs.

Is your crankset the quarq Dzero 5 bolt with 110bcd?

I'm guessing that shimano spaced cranks/chainrings will rub just like mine was with the 3mm spacer installed properly. Again, it's the actual chainring near the bolts that rub and not the teeth that touch.

I'm trying to figure out which crankset to get as I'm not sold on 48/31 grx for the riding I'm going to do. It's mostly the 31 tooth that I would like to be a bit bigger.

I've seen a 46 tooth on a red crankset installed on a new crux. You should be fine.
