I'm running 700x48 Thundero's with no issues and ample clearance, however, swapping out to 44s now its getting sloppy to help with clearance.

Thanks. I worried that would be the case. Well, no DSW from me. A shame that there's hardly any alloy frames that allow to fit larger tyres.fa63 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 9:16 pmSafest WAM is what Specialized say, 47mm in 700c. I briefly ran tires that actually measured 50mm but removed them because there was only 3mm clearance to the chainstays. May have been OK for dry conditions, but I ride in sloppy gravel and didn't want to take any chances.robeambro wrote:Sorry if I don't read 121 pages and the question has been asked already but - what's the largest WAM that has been safely fitted to the rear of a Crux with a 1x setup? Safely meaning, no / limited risk of rubbing and damage to the frame. I am considering the DSW but would like to be able to fit a 50mm tyre at the back.

Yes, as soon as the purchase option came back available purchased it without bowing lead times.Nooks wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 11:33 amHave you purchased it even without known lead time? I'm thinking about it too..josephtroppo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 2:22 pmDamn, was ready to buy it in an instance, even the perfect colorway (burnt gold) but they're out of my size.
2025 10R frameset is available for 2.2k€ at hibike at the moment.
Great deal though...
Update: available to purchase again. However no lead time for delivery..
But also I'm kinda stuck on size decision. 54 vs 56 179 cm, 73,8 cm saddle height with 170 mm cranks... I guess both sizes are ok. 54 more racey, 56 more comfy? What would look better? That is the most important
Thanks!
Edit: On page 112 or so I found that similar saddle height was discussed. May I ask for a photo of 56 frame with that saddle height? Or 54 if someone has? Thanks a lot!
It's now already being shipped!
Considering the size I'm 176 and went with 54 after some calculations. 56 would be to big.

Just to give one more example and anecdotal evidence rather than objective advise:
I am 176cm in height with a 77ish saddle height. On the road, I ride 54 Tarmacs slammed with a 115x380 roval Cockpit.
For my crux, I opted for a size 54. After some Fiddling, the crux is now set up with a 110m stem, a 38cm roval terra bar, but 18mm in spacers.
I am quite happy with the decision for the 54 crux.

I was leaning towards 54, because I think that crux is bigger than usual 54 size bike. Or atleast it feels like that. Sadly I haven't had a chance to ride 54, only 56. Guy at local Specialized store told me right away I'm size 56... well based on Specialized sizing maybe, but I don't think that's 100% accurate.
On the other hand I am riding now Tarmac SL7 size 56 because of a very good deal and my fitter told me that I can ride both 54 and 56 and it depends only on the looks
Here is my Tarmac. Now I have 100 mm stem with 380 mm rapides, but I think I can pull 115x380 cockpit.

And here I adjusted the size of saddle to circa 738 mm from BB in photoshop on a 56 bike. Doesn't look that bad:

Decisions, decisons..
Day before yesterday I wrote to Hibike with a question about the delivery, because there was no available date. They said to me that it will be 1-2 weeks because the supplier have them in stock. Well, but yesterday the price went up

I ride a 56cm slammed SL8 with 400x120.
I ride a 56cm slammed Crux with 400x110.
183cm. 765mm saddle height.
Had a 54cm Crux but was too low at the front and had to run 20mm spacers with a 110mm stem & 380mm MCFK bars. Just never felt right.

I ride Tarmac SL8 54 with 120mm stem -6D zero spacer.
And Crux 52 with 120mm stem -12D with no spacers.
My fit on both bikes is virtually identical.
I had 54 Crux for 2 years and 52 is much more in line with my Tarmac. On 54 stack was way too high for my taste.
175cm.

Finally almost ready to hit that "buy now" button
I am still thinking about how best to set up the drivetrain - I have a P2M with Ultegra 50/34 with Rotor Aldhu 24 crankarms. I was thinking of getting an offset 24mm axle (152.5mm Q factor instead of 147mm), using 2.5mm spacers on the drive side to move the chainrings out (and 3mm on the non-drive side) to match the GRX chainline. And then use GRX front and rear derailleurs in combination with Ultegra STIs which I already have.
Does anyone run this setup and can confirm that my reasoning makes sense?
Also, I was thinking about running an 11-30 cassette in my road setup - GRX RD is officially only compatible with 11-34 and 11-36. I assume this will still work?

Why use the GRX front derailleur at all? The Ultegra and DA front derailleurs are smaller and more aero. My setup is basically Ultegra 12sp road but with a GRX RD for the clutch. I run 11-36t for gravel and 11-34t for road, 50/34t right now but have a set of 52/36t I'm going to throw on next spring.joesch wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:30 amFinally almost ready to hit that "buy now" button

I decided to buy the S-works version and to be honest I have mixed feelings. I had previously test ridden the fe-806 from Flyxii and looking at the reviews and information available on the web about the crux I was expecting a big leap, however, this was not the case. Sure, the crux is 250g lighter than the fe-806, but the lack of stiffness of this frame is a huge drawback for me. As a result, I will probably go back to the Flyxii. Nevertheless, huge congratulations to Specialized's marketing department;)
"Lack of stiffness..."
I'm north of 93kg and it aint sloppy, more razor sharp. 56cm frame.
Would look elsewhere in your build to find why it's not feeling right.

That wasn't what I meant. Just use the P2M, normal axle, and 50/34 chainrings. There's no need to get the wide axle. Just run what he has. No need to buy extra stuff.
