That is my issue as well.
And bigger the tire clearance, the worst it is.
Running 32mm road clinchers would be ok, but i feel they are not that live, like 25mm.

35mm Pirelli Cinturato TLR might be a good option, too, or even 35mm TerraSpeed.
Hardly any slower than Strada Bianche, easier to get them set up and more capable.

Fortunately I have two wheelsets so the Strade's would be strictly on road and maybe the odd farm track to link roads

Which ever of the two you are referring to, they are not.
I mean, they are not slow objectively.
The TerraSpeed is the fastest knobby tire BRR has ever tested, 1W slower than the GP5000TL.
The Pirelli Cinturato are not a super fast road bike tire, but probably the most puncture proof, and still faster than most gravel tires for sure.

That is very interesting fact actually. Let's summarize below.

The cintutato in 35mm on the road is a bloody slow road tyre! Bomb proof, but not fast. If looking for a winter road tyre it works well in that you will always get home, but it won't be a quick ride. Been using the cinturatos for 3 years so well versed in them. Had 25,28 and 35mm versions

I have a set of wheels that I run 5000TL 32 and Terra Speed 35mm and can tell you that Strava suggests there is a lot more than 1 watt in it

The Pirelli 4S is a faster winter tire, but relatively fragile.
I can't say the Cinturato have held me back, when ever I rode them. Of course they are slower than a fast summer tire, but they are sturdy enough for gravel, and faster than most gravel tires on the road. That's all
I meant.

I'm gonna come out and say I think those numbers are wrong. I was going back and forth between bikes with 25c and 32c gp5000tl and there's NO WAY the 32's were 10w slower per tire. I don't even believe 5w per tire.

They were tested with 160gr inner tube. This has to hurt the performance of the GP5k more than the TerraSpeed. Otherwise I can't imagine how a wider, knobbed tire is within 1W of one of the faster road tires. Although the knobbies aren't especially tall, they still deform and that has to be more than 1W on tarmac.

I see. I can imagine that gp5k 32 in tubeless setup would be whole different story.

It is! The solo KOM on our local chain gang loop was set on a pair of them 🤯🤯 bonkers fast but rolls over all the potholes

In my experience they're just as fast rolling as the narrower versions so that makes sense. I was tempted to put them on my "fast bike" but I suspect there's an aero penalty.

Yeah I am changing to the 30mm on the new TRs as think that will be the optimum for my CLx50s on my crap roads and on an all road bike
