Amazing Crux Expert! I'm picking mine up in a week. Can you confirm that the chainline is the wide version? I just ordered this power meter: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255000165080?var=554922163032. Thanks!

I rode a set of Gravelking slicks in 32c for a couple thousand km over the summer on mix of paved and light gravel roads. No issues... they were quite light too -- measured 290 and 291g each.
As I can see in tech specs, it's not wide version needed!UltralightSL62018 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 12:49 amAmazing Crux Expert! I'm picking mine up in a week. RyanH, how are you getting along with the Shamals? They look REALLY nice, especially for the price, but I'm debating whether the increase weight, inner width and downgraded bearings is the better combo vs the pricer WTO 45 which as 19mm ID, 26.5mm OD and 160g lighter, but the OD of the WTO doesn't match very well with 28mm+ tires.
Anyone here have an Aethos and a Crux? If so did you size down to keep the same geometry? A 49cm Crux is nearly identical to my 52cm Aethos.. I would get a 52cm, but with a 70cm saddle height and no sloping top tube its going to look like a 90's steel road bike, plus there will be zero flex with that short of seatube..
Anyway, thoughts?

I have 52 aethos , I have 69.2 saddle high with look pedal and 68.6 with spd...for Crux I should go for 54..but with a very short seattube....this is not the my fit framegSporco wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 2:18 amAnyone here have an Aethos and a Crux? Almost... I have an Aethos (54) and have ordered a Crux frame (arriving Jan hopefully). I faced exactly the same dilemma and asked a similar question further up this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=161754&start=645#p1717956gSporco wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 2:18 amAnyone here have an Aethos and a Crux? The forum members were super helpful - as always - and in the end I decided to trust Specialized and stick with the 54 size. A sumarry of the pros/cons as I understand them:
Pros:
- Longer reach and shorter stem give a more MTB like geo for better off road handling.
- Less toe overlap with big tires.
Cons:
- Less seatpost out so (probably) less comfort there.
- (presumably )Less sharp handling for on road descents.
As I am planning on using the Crux for off-road only I did not downsize. However if I were planning to use it for road-only I would probably downsize. I hope that's helpful. I can report back better data when i have actually build up the Crux and ridden it..

for this reason i move mi choise to the new trek SLR ..Crux with a very short seat tube risk to be too much rigid and not suitable for bike packing in the seatpostsimbikotic wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 12:04 pmAlmost... To correct this, the 2021 CruX Expert has a wide chainline due to the 1x setup confirmed by SRAM.Vik61 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 2:21 pmAs I can see in tech specs, it's not wide version needed!UltralightSL62018 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 12:49 amAmazing Crux Expert! If it helps chainline wise: I am now using a Easton EC90SL Crank with 40T on a Rotor BSA BB with (1) 2.5MM Spacer on the DS. Chainline seems perfect for the 1x with the standard Easton adjustable preload collar on the NDS.
Previously the bike shipped with a GXP Rival crankset and chainring which was slightly more inboard due to the nature of the Sram 5 bolt ring being inboard.
In the pictured setup with 35mm Gravelking Slick tires, Tubolito tube, AR29 Wheels, XTR cassette and brake discs, S-Works Saddle and Stem, the Crux Comp weighs in at 7.39KG. My Crankbros pedals weigh 240gm, So around 7.15KG w/o pedals (56CM). I'll pop the pathfinder tires back on once i find something muddy.
Thanks for all the information here. It's so helpful.

The above was confirmed last Saturday when the wide version power meter was succesfully installed.
