I'm planning to get these tyres as I think ,Tanwalls look damn good . Barlow or Bon Jon Pass in extra light are my options.
Some questions to those who have expereienced riding on this:
Is it a given that these will weep sealant on the first few weeks?
90% road/pavement would be my route , the rest just packed dirt, loose gravel. Should be capable right?
Do they really roll fast?

Looking at the GravelKing SS too.

Thanks!
Gravelking Slicks are the perfect alternative to Bon Jovi EL. The GK tested just as fast and are quite a bit more robust and more TL-friendly. And a THIRD of the price! I have a set of both, ride quality is also similar, EL better but GK very good too.

Haven't seen a test of the SS yet unfortunately, but the SK are a bit slower than the slicks.
I had the SK TLC and yeah they're a bit slow. I did a mock buy of the Barlow Pass last night and it's almost $250 for 2 tyres including delivery!

The SS seems alright, looking at the online reviews about it. And you even tried it yourself @Marin and seems happy about it

Sorry, I have only the full slicks and the SKs, not the SS. I expect them to be between Slick and SK regarding speed, and would hope them almost to be as fast as the slicks. If a test confirms this, I'll get a set.

The 38mm SS is in the "winning position" in the BRR (Bicycle Rolling Resistance) voting this month, so will hopefully be tested in April. Both the Slick and the SK did well in the BRR testing, so I would expect the SS to fall in the middle. I would be curious to see how much the Plus casings impact the GK rolling resistances.

The Barlow Pass has quite a few votes as well, so will hopefully be tested soon as well-I voted for the SS this month and will use my vote for the Barlow Pass next month. I briefly rode the Barlow Pass EL and loved them on "Gucci" gravel and routes with a fair amount of pavement as far as speed, comfort and "feel." I wanted a little more durability and cornering grip for racing, so am currently riding the 38mm Spesh Pathfinder Pros. I have also ridden the RH Steilecoom (standard) and Hurricane Ridge (endurance) and they seemed noticeably slower to me on pavement.

You've probably seen this thread, you can piece together most of the Herse Tires from the data linked there:

Unfortunately after 2 weeks of using the 35mm Extralight's I'm moving on. After constant weeping issues I finally have 1 tire holding air but the other continues to let out air even after adding sealing and trying all the various tips. Pretty annoyed considering they were ~300Cad but it's too much stress dealing with them.

Just ordered 32mm Gravelking's so hopefully a better experience with those.

^ yes extralite casing is a weeper.. proobably 50% plus. I have quite a bit of stock to go though but after this I'll stick to standard casing. I think I'm going to try 700x35 terraspeed tr for BWR though.

My Bon Jon Pass EL are a few years old but they're holding air better than latex tubes now.

Pari Moto 42s are EL equivalent and dodn't need much air either

I guess standard casing would not weep as ELs?

Same. I recently installed standard casing Babyshoe Pass' on a set of wheels that ended up sitting for two weeks. Spun them occasionally but no weeping or loss of air.

I liked my Gravel King SK's in 43mm but they would flick all kinds of little stones at me. They would end up in my shoes, helmet, etc. Had to take them off for this reason unfortunately.

Hi all,
I'm building a gravel bike for my wife, and was thinking about Rene Herse 35 or 38 mm version, and run them with standard tubes.
She'll be riding 80-90 % on asphalt, plus an occasional ride on hard packed gravel bike path.
I already bought some Schwalbe G-One All ROund, but now I'm dissapointed thinking they will not roll very fast on hard surface.
Wheelset's rims are Kinlin XR22T.
What do you guys think ?

Louis :)

LouisN,

If you're thinking of ReneHerse with tubes, you could consider the bit cheaper Soma Supple Vitesse EX or SL.
