New gravel bike for 85% road
Moderator: Moderator Team
Another hat in the ring for an Aspero. Lately im riding 85% on road with my 4.5AR wheels with 32mm gravel king slicks and im just as fast as my roadie group. Then i swap to my g23 wheelset with gravel king sk 38mm for rocky single track. This bike does it all, its pretty much an R5 that' takes big tires
^ almost exactly what I do with 3T Exploro...32mm GK slicks then swap wheelset w 42mm WTB Resolutes.

I'm in the same boat. My short list is -
3T RaceMax Force AXS 2x - Top of the list at the moment
Cervelo Aspero
Open Up - Maybe due an Upgrade as it quite old now
Factor LS - Only downside is it won't take 650B.
I'm trying to replace a Canyon Grail Cf and Canyon Ultimate SLX with one bike. Use will be Gravel Weekends with the guys, and long hilly rides.

Have you considered the Scott Addict 10? I was also between the 3T RaceMax and Factor LS but my LBS is having some difficulty tracking down the 3T rep so I've now narrowed between the Factor and Addict 10.SeanD380 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 12:26 amI'm in the same boat. My short list is -

Current: 2021 Bianchi Specialissima I 2021 Tarmac SL6 S-Works (Sagan Edition) l 2023 Aethos S-Works
Scott aren't easily available Down Under. I'd also like to go Force AXS Wide.
Ah got it. Makes sense. I'm debating Force AXS and GRX Di2. Have Sram Red on my Addict RC and very happy with it.

Curve Grovel ti.
Since I have to ride many miles to get to gravel...I ride with Schwalbe G-One Speed 30mm tires. Its fine for the tow path and rail trails that I tend to ride. 32mm are still good for 80/20 gravel but generally, the 30mm gravel speed tires work very well.
added: I have a Factor LS incoming...so that will replace my Parlee Chebacco.

I like that its long and low like traditional road bike. Rolls just fine on the road despite the longer wheel base with a fast 38c tire. Reviews have been quite positive.
That's the setup I'm using and it's pretty great but it looks a bit weird from the front with a skinny tire. The only other gravel bike I can compare it to is my wife's canyon grail which feels a lot more stable and less like a roadbike than the secan. (But I get envious of the carbon and di2).
Please show me a photo of your Secan with deep sections, I beg of you. Push me over the edge.Arvid wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 5:37 pmThat's the setup I'm using and it's pretty great but it looks a bit weird from the front with a skinny tire. I do the same but on my Parlee Chebacco. AR 4.5's with Schwalbe 30mm pro ones and G23's with 38mm Hutchison override. I haven't touched my road bike in weeks and wondering if I should just unload it.
