What shoes ard those? Doesn't look like you had to modify them at all, which would be nice.

Ahh, those RX8s look awesome. The only thing I wish they had was toe spikes. I'd rather have one shoe that I can use for cross and gravel, and for me, toe spikes are needed for our cross series.

Hmm... I have Xpedo MForce 8s, Assioma Uno, and RX8 shoes. Might have to give this a shot.

Kundica, how did you get on?
I tried and couldn't get the left pedal to cinch down properly....., there was lateral movement when I tightened the nut onto the spindle (It was probably user error). What was your experience?

I haven't attempted the modification yet. I crashed two weeks ago and broke a few ribs so I've been taking it easy. I plan to try some stationary riding on my trainer soon but I probably won't try the mod for a few more weeks.

I cant seem to find a 9mm socket that fits into the hole around the nut, anyone had that problem?

No, I used a socket from a basic tool set, nothing fancy.

Yeah I mustve been weirdly unlucky, had two socket sets at home and neither fit. Went out and bought a dirt cheap set that fit easily.

I did this conversion with the mforce 8s, quick and easy.

Just found this thread, nice solution getting an power meter pedal for cx/gravel, instead of waiting until SRM get itˋs X-Power to the market.

My only concern will be the clearance of the shoes (S-Works Recon) to the pod. Does anyone use the S-Works Recon or may provide measurements concerning the distance from the pedal center and the height to the pod? I do not want to cut something out of my shoes to get the right fit.

regards

Chuffed about this now I don't have to stress about two power meters on two bikes, easy swap between MTB cross and road 😀

What's to stress about? I got sick of transferring my pedals from bike to bike almost daily (especially from roadie to commuter) that I got another set of Assioma's. Still undecided which XPedo body to do the swap with.

So after reading through this: https://forum.trainerroad.com/t/a-wild- ... s/18627/24 and looking for a power meter option for my Trek Checkpoint, I decided to try this hack.
Do you have any pics of the CXR's side-on with the cap on? In your first pic it kind of looks like the cap is recessed.

The CXR's do appear wider than the mForce models from pics...
