I'm 200, I run my road GP5000TL at 90 psi (very smooth roads around here), I run my 650b wheels (WTB Ventures) at 40psi on road (rated max for these rims) and 25psi off. Haven't bottomed out yetredbicycle wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 1:24 amAt what weight are you riding at this PSI? I'm 200lbs and honestly a bit scared to try such a low (in my mind) psi.spdntrxi wrote: Try ReneHerse/Compass or some WTB byways.. I run my WTB byways @ ~30psi they are 650x47... and it's a couch.
Are 650B really more comfortable than 700C?

A 46mm x 700c tyre has 230 cubic inches of air volume.
A 52mm 650b tyre has 250 cubic inches of air. About 10% more air, so you could run air pressure 10% lower for the same amount of suspension.
However, being a bigger tyre you have more travel before risking a pinch flat, so you could drop MORE Than 10% and get a bigger increase in comfort and grip with the same tyre safety.
46mm is already a big tyre. For others considering the switch from 700x40 to 650x48, the numbers are 160ci vs 200ci, or a 25% volume increase.
