Just built up an Aspero. This thing feels super fast on both the road and gravel.
It built up a bit heavier than expected - 19.6lb (8.9kg) with pedals
I'd definitely drop some weight by switching to lighter tires. The Pirellis weigh in at approximately 490g each, but roll super fast and does well enough on gravel.
Frameset: Cervelo Aspero 51cm
Groupset: Shimano GRX Di2 2x
Cranks: SRAM Red Quarq GXP
Chainrings: SRAM 46/34t
Cassette: SRAM PG-1170 11-36t
Wheelset: BTLOS WGX30 28h rims, DT350 hubs, Pillar 1420 spokes (1442g without tape and valves)
Tires: Pirelli Gravel H 700x40mm
Bars: Shimano PRO Discover 12 degree flare 40cm
Stem: Kalloy Uno 90mm
Saddle: Specialized Power Arc Expert 143mm
Seatpost: Specialized S-Works
Pedals: Time ATAC XC8
Picture of the build (8.9kg is with the J&L thru-axles and not the stock Cervelo ones as pictured and without saddlebag):
Steerer will be cut as I dial in my fit in a bit.

That is great looking bike.
Considering that the bike already has light components, I wonder where does that extra weight come from. I have a 56 with apex, almost 100 g heavier 303S's, 490 g Zipp tyres, etc., but the total weight is around 8.6kg. SRAM apex is 1x, could that make the 200-300 g difference?

If anyone's interested, I'm selling my teal size 56 Aspero frame on eBay (or just write). Great gravel bike, built light, but not enough interesting gravel to ride around here.

I used the Park tool bbt-29 for removing the bottom bracket.

Thanks, I have C-bear bb waiting. I had previously asked lbs if they had WheelsMFG tool and they didn't, but now they seem have 16-notch 48,5mm bb toolkervelo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 6:04 pmI used the Park tool bbt-29 for removing the bottom bracket.

Thinking of swapping out the GRX600 crank that came with my Aspero for a Rotor Aldhu gravel (probably with a P2M on it). I'm thinking that I might well put a BBinfinite in at the same time (which has always been a great solution in my other BBright bikes). Concious that the GRX chainline and Q factor are both wider, has anyone done this and hit any problems?
Allied posted some photos of Colin Strickland's Echo for Steamboat Gravel earlier today. He's got a 52/36 Dura Ace crank on there and what looks to be the grx Di2 rear mech on there. I'd take that to mean there'd be no issue at the back. I can't tell from the pics which front mech he has but the road front mech wouldn't surprise me with those larger rings.
Good to know, thankskytyree wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 9:20 pmAllied posted some photos of Colin Strickland's Echo for Steamboat Gravel earlier today. Something doesn't add up on that weight. A cursory look suggest it should be closer to 8.0kgscoobydrew wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 5:36 amJust built up an Aspero. This thing feels super fast on both the road and gravel.

You can save money on the BB. Aspero BB is a solid carbon tube and not just a cutout. I am running rotor with the offset axle, no issue with Axs 12s rear.Stueys wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 8:51 pmThinking of swapping out the GRX600 crank that came with my Aspero for a Rotor Aldhu gravel (probably with a P2M on it).
