Fast handlebar for gravel and road
Moderator: Moderator Team
I'm hoping to improve the setup of my Argon18 Dark Matter for fast gravel and road riding. Thinking for long miles a bar that keeps me fast on the hoods but confident in the drops would be awesome. I was riding an easton ec70ax 40 hoods 46 drops but this was still a bit of a monster truck for me as I run 38s normally.
Is anyone out there riding the enve SES road or 3t aeronova for gravel?
Enve SES road: has a flare as extreme as most gravel bars [5cm] and allows for some really narrow setups on the hoods.
3T aeronova: extended reach in the hoods for the sphynx style position but only 2cm of flare, and can only go down to 38 at the hoods.

I have the Enve SES Aero road handlebar in size 42 on my road bike and this weekend will be installing another on my gravel bike, replacing the Enve Compact Carbion road bar. The reason for this swap is that I like the narrower stance on the hoods as well as the 'shelf' the aero road bar offers versus the round profile of the compact road bar.

The guy who won Dirty Kanza was using an Enve SES aero bar. I have this bar on two of my bikes and love them specially in the drops.
Bianchi Oltre XR4, De Rosa SK Pininfarina, Trek Madone SLR, Giant TCR Advanced SL, Cervelo R5 Disk, Giant Revolt
I will be replacing an Enve Compact road bar in 42 width which has always felt like 44 to me, with the SES Aero in 42.

Selling the 42 SES?
ended up grabbing the cowbells in a 38 and using the close to $400 saved on other goodies. The flare actually helps kick the hoods in a bit giving an even narrower stance than the 38 C-C which makes me very happy
I opted for those as well (same width) on my all-road commuter/gravel bike and I'm very happy with them.

Regret selling my Enve aero road bars. Have Aeronova's and they're ok but not as good. Will be putting my XXX integrated on the new gravel build.

I had Salsa Cowbell 40cm and did not like it. On road bike I got accustomed to flattened tops, so the thin top section of the bar was quite annoying. There was also something strange with the top bend, which made it uncomfortable to ride with hands on the bend - or maybe just too small reach?
Changed to Deda Gravel 100 42cm (measured c-c, so equivalent to 40) and it's much better for my taste. I miss the longer drops with slight sweep that Salsa had, but other than this I think it's a nicer handlebar.
For the record, I am 183cm tall and ride 38-40 cm handlebars on road bike.

I run 38 on my road bike and 40's on my gravel bike.
Not a fan of the gravel flared out bars.
Both are the same make. 3T Superergo bars.
