Join 2 chains, how will a static front chainring affect the rear derailleur?

Yeah it won't.

On top of that, less chainslap since the radius of the chainring increases the area between the chain and chainstay.

That 38T max chainring size up front statement in the previously posted video didn‘t make sense given that the eTap 1x cranks are 40, 44, 46, 48 and 50T (and I assume the Sram rep thought of Eagle cranks.. which ‚only’ go up to 38T) so I wrote Sram again & just got this reply:
Thanks for reaching out! That mix and match set up is something that we state will work! Pretty exciting builds are happening! For the 1X option you would only have 40T, 44T, and 46T to choose from. We also have the 48T and 50T aero option too. The downfall with going to the larger 1X options is that you will need to consider buying two chain to have something long enough.
So 10-50 rear & all the way up to 50 up front -is- supported (albeit potentially requiring a second chain as links-donor).. but yeah \o/

Speaking of chains - the red etap axs chain with the flat top is only compatible with the red axs cassette. Not an issue for those looking to run the eagle axs cassette of course as you would run another chain. Just FYI.

Out in the wild: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt6P4vChdC9/ .. not sure how I feel about the look of the 1x chainring, though

4-bolt like Shimano ;) I wish they had designed it as the regular big chainring with a direct mount :)

I’m doing a build with my Open U.P. frame and this combo is super appealing & super expensive
Planning to wait for Force axs to get released, also looking at Shimano DA lever XTR combo
..... so many options. I reckon a 1x44 with 10-45ish would be fine for 98% of my riding on & offroad
Anyone done a 1x12 build on an Open U.P. frameset ?

I currently have an Open Upper with Dura Ace lever/brakes + XT DI2 (pimped with Hopp Carbon Parts and Ceramic Speed pulleys) + Goat link + Sram XG-1195 Cassette + Easton EC90 SL Crankset w/ 48T Chainring.. and it works flawlessly.

That being said, I was and still am considerung switching all but the crankset etc for an AXS combo (to unify with my road bike & building itself is fun..so yeah). Depending on what's announced/available next week regarding Force AXS (basically hoping for an AXS version of their mid/long cage CX / Force derailleur today with a 12s 10-42 or 10-45 or so cassette) I'll either go get that OR an Eagle XX1 Essential Kit (which are available already today.. shops are just not permitted to promote them.. you can order them though) + eTAP AXS shifters/brakes. The cost of this Eagle AXS + eTAP AXS combo is somewhat painful though and would leave me with an Eagle AXS controller I wouldn't need and depending on which eTAP AXS Kit I could get that contains the Shifters/brakes.. I'd probably end up with a spare eTAP AXS derailleur... "end up" meaning pay for it and keep it in the box -.-

Curiously waiting for next week..

Force is pretty unnapealing 10-33 only

10-45 seems perfect

Yeah that was a disappointment.. was hoping for something.. more.

Oh well - does anyone know of any 12s Eagle compatible 10-42-ish cassettes?

How about a gravel bike 1x12 with following ...

Easton EC90SL crankset - 175m 44 direct mount
Sram Force AXS levers & brakes
Sram Eagle AXS XG-1299 Cassette 10-50
Sram Eagle AXS X01 Rear Mech
Sram Eagle AXS XX1 Chain

This would all work together right ??

Yep.. I‘m already running a XX1 Chain with my EC90SL crankset & chainrings & Sram confirmed You can do 10-50 back and up to 50 front.. given your chain is long enough. Just need to make sure the rear drivetrain (derailleur, cassette) & chain are either completly eTap Axs or completely Eagle Axs and you‘re good to go.. which you did.. so 👍🏻
