Hey guys,

I’m in the process of building a gravel bike and looking for carbon wheels in the $1000 price range. I’m either gonna build a 3T Exploro or go cheap and get the Carbonda 505/696. The build will be with Shimano 1X with at least 43mm gravel tires.

650b or 700c?

650b I would get a set of the older DT swiss Xmc 1200 with the 24mm internal . Can be found for right around a grand

I went the aluminum route for my 650b with Easton ea70ax. Considering carbon myself and it will likely be xmc 1200.. unless I can score a deal on Roval CLX 32 in 650b .. also considering a enve g27 build . Even with hookups well over a grand :(

Lightbicycle wheelset with DT350 hubs, or DT240 if they're within budget.

I built up my Exploro with Netxie NXT27RM30 with DT350 centerlock hubs and I’ve been very happy with them

Hey just heard about Hunt which are releasing a new wide rim gravel specific carbon set anytime soon. They’re already available for preorder. Had good experience with them in the past!

just measured my WTB Byways on Enve g27.. 47.02.. totally happy since G27's are 27mm internal. I have about 2mm per side clearance in the back and as long as I say out the mud.. I'm good to go.

My experience was that the wheels were massively overweight and when asked they told me that was within spec.
