Drum tests seem to correlate well with other methods though, even if Jan Heine doesn't like the fact. Plus, tires in the linked test were all of similar width, so the "drum puts wider tires at a disadvatage" argument doesn't apply.

Why do you think? In my experience, Panaracer/Compass make the fastest fat tires by far.

Looking at tread patterns, how do you think something like the WTB Nano 40mm's would stack up compared to these?

Considering swapping to something closer to 35mm as I spend a lot of time on tarmac, but not sure if it's worth the cost/effort or if I'd lose too much grip on the really rough stuff.

Shame the nanos arn't on this test, I find them amazing on the road, oddly quicker than the 28mm i've ridden, alas these were on pure road bikes.

Not really (according to my own testing). Vittoria has some sidewall "armoring" they use that seems to slow them down a bit.

Because their G+ mountain tires test among the fastest on the market and the gravel ones are similarly constructed but the Dry has a very low center tread so it should be even faster.

The Morsa 2.3 is a 1000 gram all mountain tire but in a German bike mag test was by far the fastest tire tested. And even though I've seen it posted that it tends to get punctures in the center of the tread, it also tested almost the best in puncture protection.

It's not up there because I haven't finalized all the details of the testing protocol for these tires...

Pity that Tour Int have not been published since aug -17(?)
But german Tour is still around and testing tires, the new Conti GP 5000 in Tour 2-2019
