Broken SuperX

That is really, really bad! Did you survive unscathed? If so count yourself lucky. So many ways things could have ended up worse.
The material looks very thin.

Fark!! You must have alllll the Watts! Must have been previous damage surely? No creaking prior?
I was sprinting up a short steep hill. 800watts according to my Garmin.
No warning at all, my feet slipped and unclipped.
At first I thought the splines on the crank had stripped off, I looked down expecting to see the cranks both at 6 o’clock.
I was stunned when I saw the frame.
The frame was an eBay purchase, it was an ex team bike, there were no signs of damage.
Luckily the seller is cool and has given me another frame.
Like was said above I did think the BB area looked very thin.

The crank is an Ali Express, EBay special that came with the frame.
I’m slightly concerned that the frame is an Ali Express fake Cannondale SuperX, I’ve never heard of them but it doesn’t mean they aren’t out there.
The frames have been re-sprayed to team colours.
Will see how the new frame is.

Mine is the 2013 rim brake version, the internal cable version came out in 2016.TurboKoo wrote:But doesn’t the SuperX have internal cables and in yours you have clearly visible shift cable? Or is this rim brake variant?

It would be interesting to know if that was some sort of team special frame, or if they just pulled one off the standard production line. Sometimes team bikes are made lighter, or with custom geometry that results in a different layup of carbon plies than the stock bikes.

2nd hand bike, assuming it's not a counterfeit, won't have a warranty anyways. This is why teams send the bikes back to the manufacture who then either destroy the bikes, or some will have them checked professionally before selling them after every season...assuming this is a real team bike and not a counterfeit.
