I hope someone can answer my question.

I have a Cannondale CAADX 105 Disc 2016 Cyclocross Bike with the following bottom bracket, chainset:
* Chainset FSA Gossamer Cross, BB30, 46/36
* Bottom Bracket FSA BB30

My plan is to swoop the chainset/cranks to SRAM Force 1 Crank Carbon 42 Teeth | for BB30 172,5 mm
https://r2-bike.com/SRAM-Force-1-Crank- ... 30-1725-mm

It says "Delivery: SRAM Force 1 crank, including chainring without bottom bracket."

Will my existing FSA BB30 bottom bracket work with the SRAM Force 1 cranks or do I need another bottom bracket?

Hi Ohnooo,

Yes, the SRAM cranks will work with your existing bottom bracket bearings.

Bearing ID = 30mm, spindle OD = 30mm: check.
Shell width = 68mm, spindle length = much more than that.

So assembling the right spacers will be the hardest part, and that's easy. Just follow SRAM's instructions for BB30 and all will be well.

Remember to readjust your front derailleur after the swap.

Cheers,
Damon

Hi Damon,

Thanks for your detailed answer.
I guess I have found the BB30 instuctions you refer to, https://www.sram.com/sites/default/file ... -000_0.pdf
It seems to be a bit complicated and I am not sure if all those spacers, washers etc. exist on the FSA BB I have today.

To be on the safe side it might be better get the SRAM BB30 pack and then keep the FSA bearings as backup(?)

If that's what I need(?)

The appropriate spacers are included with the crankset :)

This was one of the first things I did to my Supersix Evo. Swapped the Gossamer for a SRAM Force. Mine came with the SRAM bottom bracket but I never bothered using it as the FSA was brand new. Thousands of KMs later and still going strong, no creaks or noise.
